Very quiet day so far. He is a happy boy, just a little mellow this morning. May be because he was locked up all night in his room and didnt' get his late night yeowling in  :-D He is wolfing down his 1st can ff and marching :-D I love this guy!

We let 4 of the strays stay in the house last night. It is just too darn cold out there. So another little girl stray decided to occupy the heated house for the night. So sad, she came out to eat this morning and her wee whiskers were thick and white with frost. And such cold little feets. She's too nervous of us tho so we can't get her to come in. She looks to be maybe just 2 years. Only seen her around this year tho.

The stray kittens are busy destroying our new Christmas tree. It is a prelit Carolina Spruce and use to have lots of little pinecones or acorns on it...I HAVE to fix that before DH wakes up  :?

Depending on Twice's +2, I may go to Regina with him today to get some shopping in and hit the bigger pet stores. He wants to pick up another fireplace. He went across the line 2 or 3 weeks ago now to get the Christmas tree and a fireplace/media center, and was so excited about setting it all up. Unfortunately the fireplace is missing one side to it and the company that makes them won't do anything about it. They even told us that they are not sure if part 'K' would be available anytime soon as it is a huge backorder. Sounds like an entire batch of these things went out missing this part (the side wall that holds it all together), and the knew about it! I said 'how can you still be selling this unit knowing it's not operational'. Long drawn out ridiculousness followed. :YMSIGH: I wish I knew the number to Dateline or W5  And yes, he can return it to the store, but it is a 7.5-8 hour round trip and he just isn't up to it right now.

Sending vines to all in need! Have a great Saturday!!

Re: 12/7 Twice AMPS 90

What a great number for Twice to start his day~ Hope he allows you to go out with DH for a few hours

Picturing that kitty with the frosted wee whiskers just broke my heart, Kim  I am glad you supply them with some form of shelter- maybe one day she will also come in with the others. Why can't people spay and neuter, these babies are not throw aways. I know you do a lot for them and I thank you :-D

Talk about poor customer service - knowingly selling something with a missing part and then not fixing it in a timely manner!? Crazy -

I hope Twice does his usual safe surf today, and you get some shopping time with DH!
Happy Caturday!

Re: 12/7 Twice AMPS 90

Another gorgeous start for Twice!

Aw...the poor little girl who is too nervous to come in. Maybe if you told her about the tree she'd change her mind??? I so wish we could save/help/comfort all of them...you do such wonderful things for the sweeties around you.

I have to admit, when I read this, I thought your were going to take Twice shopping with you, not DH    !

Re: 12/7 Twice AMPS 90

Nice start for Twice this morning. I hope he'll surf safely for you so you can get out. My first thought was you were going to take Twice with you too. Poor stray kitty with the frost on her whiskers. At least she had some shelter. I wish we could save all of them. That's ridiculous about the fireplace. I hope you can get it exchanged.

Looks like Twice and China are both swimming laps in the green lagoon this morning!

Heartbreaking story about the little kitty with the frost on her whiskers. Have you ever seen the Roughneck homes for feral cats? They're made out of plastic bins with hay/straw as insulation. If had ferals near me, I'd make a few. They look so easy. If you've never heard of them, here Roughneck Homes

Sure hope this cold weather goes back to the North Pole where it belongs!

Re: 12/7 Twice AMPS 90 +4 76

Twice is cruising the greens as usual cat_pet_icon I'm glad you can provide shelter for at least some of the ferals. We have 2 that live on the grounds where I work, but I don't worry too much for them because we rarely get to freezing temps and we dont' have the precipitation to complicate matters. I do like to keep an eye out for them. There used to be 4 and I have only seen 2 lately. There are lots of fields by work, so they could be patrolling anywhere. I like the Roughneck Home - good idear!

Chris I am in the city now and will pick up some supplies. Thank you so much for that link. It is -18.4F feels like-40F here today so it is just too darn cold for these kitties.

Morning Kim ~O) ~O) ~O)

Great start Twice! keep surfin' those greens.

It is very nice that you let in those strays. that is just too cold... I hope the other stray will reconsider, at least she is using the heated house. I can so see that frost on her whiskers! poor thing.

Oh wow on the missing part... bummer on the customer service. that really is awful.

Enjoy your day today. I hope it is a good one.

Re: 12/7 Twice PMPS 76

Thank you for the visits today :-D

Jane- No sign of little kitty since this morning  She was pretty scared to see me and she didn't even come back to eat the fuds I left her. Actually, none of the other skittish strays had been here either as the food was untouched. No surprise with this cold temp. They must be hunkered down somewhere keeping warm.

Amy & Carla- I guess I should watch how I word things! My english teacher would cringe

Chris- I did pick up some tubs, and DH says we also have more material to make a couple more heated condos for the strays, then these could be for overflow, or set further from the house for the super skittish ones :-D

Tara- We had several more that we seen last summer and not this summer. I feared the worst, but lo and behold, one of them showed up the other day. He has very unique markings and war wounds, so we know it's him. I think kitties are more interested than having their own turf..for safety reasons, so they do seem to disappear. I like to think they found their own space :-D

Michelle- It seriously makes me lose sleep some nights, especially if it's super cold out or the coyotes are close and celebrating  I know I can't save them all, and I can't even take anymore in as it would be just too unfair for the herd I have now, but the least I can do is watch out for them, feed them, shelter as needed, and spay/neuter those in my hood so no more breeding. QOL may not be ideal, but I hope they think it is and they are happy. Darn irresponsible people!

Elsa- Thanks for sending coffee over with your bean! It was much appreciated :-D

Re: 12/7 Twice PMPS 76

Look at Twice go.   He sure seems to like those 70's. :-D :-D

I hope you had a good shopping trip in the big city. Good luck with the ferals. I hope they recognize the new house as a place to stay.

Re: 12/7 Twice PMPS 76

Nicely done, Twice!  Paws crossed for the ferals in this cold weather. They've got it better than many do.
Liz

Re: 12/7 Twice PMPS 76 +2 85

Wendy- And then....we hit the 80's  Trip was great, but fast. Just over 4 hours combined travel left us only 3 hours to shop. A girl cannot, and should not have to try to shop with only 3 hours    We got another fireplace so DH is very happily setting it up now. And yes, fingers crossed they use their little condos

Liz- All paws are crossed here too :-D

Re: 12/7 Twice PMPS 76 +2 85

Twice is looking awesome today! Good job!!!! Sorry to hear about the sweet little stray that won't come inside to keep warm. I'd lose sleep, too. And you're so right...no girl should ONLY have 3 hours to shop. That's like a warm-up. Glad y'all got a new fireplace...hope it has all it's parts!

Re: 12/7 Twice PMPS 76 +2 85

Hi Kim,
Twice is looking great!!!
You are so kind to help stray kitties keep warm.
I hope they like the new condos, and stay warm....
Heart breaking to picture a kitty with frozen whiskers.

Re: 12/7 Twice PMPS 76 +2 85

Thanks for that link Chris! This is going to be a great project!
Deborah- Woo Hoo! All parts accounted for and fireplace assembled! Thank you for sharing my shopping pain ;-) And still waiting for little girl to come back..
Mariko- It really was heartbreaking. They were just so thick with frost  And that's considering she was in the heated condo! Makes me just sick to think about all the ones with no real good place to go or shelter. All the four kitties that came in the house are currently crashed on the sofa. I took a pic but can't figure out how to attach it to a post

Re: 12/7 Twice PMPS 76 +2 85

Aww poor kitties outside, how lucky they are to have landed near such a generous person as you! I hope the scared little girl comes back and in for you. Twice is looking beautiful today  I could use a fireplace right now too, if you were closer I would be visiting yours  To attach a pic just hit upload attachment tab next to options below your text box and then browse to find the one you have saved on your computer, then add :-D It'll only let you post certain (small) sizes though, I've had to use picasa to shrink the size...or use a link to an online picture site where you have pictures like picasa online https://picasaweb.google.com/home :) Hope you can figure it out, I'd love to see the picture

Re: 12/7 Twice PMPS 76 +2 85

You would be more than welcome to warm up with us Rachel! And thank you for the directions! I didn't even notice the upload attachment tab down there

I love the picture!
These 4 are stray kitties, right?
They look amazingly comfy and relaxed.

I'm sure they all appreciate your warm house and big heart!

Oh, Kim, they are adorable!!

What crazy shipping charges on the powdered liver. It was a lot to ship here also, but no where as high as yours

Those are some nice looking stray kitties. I'm glad they got to spend the night in your house.
