Hi! Finally getting a chance to post Johnny's numbers today. Could we still be in a bounce? Or is he bouncing frequently? His reactions seem to be so different than our first time around. We've been using a new syringe the past few days. Everything is the same except the needle length (this one is 1/2" versus the short needle (5/16")). Could that make any difference? I doubt it, but thought I'd mention it in case there is a red flag in there that I can't see. Brian's been pulling his tent up as high as possible to going in too far, which we're not sure is possible, but just being cautious.

Johnny's doing pretty good. Still a little growlier than the usually non-growly Johnny Cat. Still a happy and playing boy when he wants to be, though, which we're glad to see. The food is nearly gone when Brian gets home, so I'll be leaving out a little more in the mornings before I leave. I wonder if he's not eating much during the day.

Do his numbers tell you anything? I just have never caught on to seeing the difference between a high number that's a bounce and a high number that's just a high number. This is day four (eight shots) of .25u and I'm wondering if the bounces should lessen soon. I wish we could test during the day like we used to...

I suspect there's a bounce. Last night, you had a drop of approx 160 points between PMPS and +3.5. Numbers probably went a little lower. Bounces can occur not just from a low number but the speed at which the numbers drop. Given that your AMPS was pink and there was that red, I'd chalk it up to a bounce.

Did you ever get Johnny in to the vet? I went back to see if you had a report but couldn't find one.

Thanks, Sienne, for the nice bounce lesson. I either didn't know or had forgotten that speed of drop factored in. I'm filing that away!

Yes, he went to the vet the day before Thanksgiving. Here are the links. I'm just afraid I would forget something in summary.

The day we went and the tests done: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=30484&p=315069#p315069

Next day (nothing showed up in bloodwork): viewtopic.php?f=9&t=30597&p=316068#p316068

Early the next week, we found out that nothing resulted from the urine culture. So, no answers for falling off the wagon. I asked about a dental. The vet said she'd like him to be regulated (but also advised to start with more insulin than we did) before we did the dental, but that it was probably a good idea. I really think that might be the answer.
