First weekend of December :) Where did the year go?

Random fun question - Do you put up a holiday tree? Do the cats leave it alone?

No tree here, at least not a traditional one. Leroy would eat it and all the decorations and both would knock it over:facepalm: I have a non-traditional tree: a small foot foot high-ish wooden triangle wrapped in battery operated lights and a felt snowflake ornament, kind of like this. The triangle is actually a air plant holder but works great as a tree too :)

I don't put up a tree, since I generally spend my holiday visiting my parents anyway. Also, both my roommates are Jewish and I think they get a little tired of all the compulsory Christianity (obviously not everyone who celebrates Christmas is Christian or religious, but I know it still gets to be a little tiring/overwhelming when you're not part of dominant cultural traditions and I'm perfectly comfortable with our household feeling more neutral).

One of the many questions I have about bringing Gen home with me this year (I'm leaning away from the option if possible, but it's still under consideration) is how he'd react to the tree! My family gets a real one from a nearby farm most years, and we have a lot of ornaments, some of them quite delicate. Based on his behavior overall I think he's most likely to sniff and inspect but not try to climb, but I just don't know!

Year after year I would only put up small christmas tree out of reach, but last year I finally decided to buy a grown up christmas tree and was hoping my boys won't bother it. They did really well and didn't attempt to climb it or knock it over. They would actually go and sit under or by the tree. And last year we were catsitting my friend's cat for almost 2 weeks and he also didn't mess with it. So this year the tree is back up.
