Good Sunday Morning, Everyone,

We all had a good night's sleep last night, but wake-up time comes around very early now that it is dark in the morning! Rusty ate all of the food set out for him last night and spent the whole night on the bed with us. I think nighttime is his favorite time. He can't wait for us to get into bed (runs around and makes wonderful calling sounds), and then he is so good; stays in "his spot" and doesn't hog the covers. This morning we had a pretty good test (3 tries), a fairly good shot (he had to be brought to his dish and then squirmed, I hope the shot got in)! He ate all of his breakfast (1st installment) and then we had a good play with "Red Ears"--the mouse on a string. I started to brush him (soft-bristle brush), but he seems to have a sensitive spot on his right flank and didn't want me to continue (this happened yesterday, too; it only seems to bother him when he is brushed; we'll keep an eye on it).
We still have cold (18 degrees) and light snow. I don't think we'll be seeing the sun for a few more days. Nothing much planned for today. We may go snowshoeing this afternoon if there is enough snow in the woods.
Rusty went to his first OTJ party (Essi's) and was mighty impressed.

Nice start for you Rusty. Seems like he settled in very quickly and comfortably.
It must be very pretty up there with the snow....sounds great to me. I am a snow lover. :mrgreen:

Rusty sounds like so much fun. :smile: He probably thinks he finally hit the jackpot, finding a family with two beans all to himself, and no other pesky kitties.

edited: Lucy wanted me to tell Rusty how impressed she is by a man who sings. She LOVES singing, and does it all the time. She is more into aleatoric music. She doesn't like to feel constrained by things like scales and melodies.

What a great cat Rusty is - I love the nighttime and bed time ritual. Very special!

Mannie is the same with the brushing - a few sensitive spots - for us its where his excess son to be shed fur "collects" and brushing there pulls alot - he fusses hisses and carries on so when I brush there. :roll:

Rusty! You were the best in the kitchen last night. Impressive! We all loved how you could slice and dice and stir and mix and sing at the same time. You will be a journeyman in no time. Did you like the recipes? The new one was Gracie's idea - and wow - you were the only one that could handle the wasabi - way to go dude: awesome! Doing the Old Soft Snowshoe today?? Sounds like fun & must be very beautiful there--
Rusty is such a good boy--Hope he will calm down & let you poke more easily--I see Moonies pupils get big & black when it's pokey or shot time..
Dont know whether she is excited or upset??--Heard Rusty was sinsging again..Just tuning up for singing with Moonie.. :cool:

Hi again,
Not enough snow in the woods for snowshoeing: maybe tomorrow. So we went for a walk around a pond in town. Very lovely out today, but we're not yet used to the cold (19 degrees). Rusty has all 5 Ps in place and has been lounging about and playing. I decided to do a +8 today. It may reflect a bit of a food spike, since he ate a little Wellness chicken about an hour before the test. It may also be an indication of how he trends toward the latter part of the cycle. (And, heaven forbid, it might indicate a fur shot this morning!) It will be interesting to see if PMPS is around the same number.

Libby: Rusty's singing is a bit more "conventional" than Lucy's. Edward heard him singing "Mary had a Little Lamb" last night. I don't know where he learned it! Like Alice(GA), he sings only the notes, with rests between each note, and all notes are held for the same duration (short). But the pitch differentiation is remarkable. Edward uses the music-writing program "Sibelius" and is writing a paper that contains music examples. When he inputs the notes, Rusty looks up and takes notice. Perhaps one of the examples had the same succession of pitches as "Mary had a little Lamb".

Chef Mannie, I'm glad my kitchen skills were OK. I liked handling the Wasabi. I have lots of fur in my paws, so it didn't bother me at all. Can't wait for the next party. I love to sing while I'm helping in the kitchen.

Moonie: yes let's practice some duets for the next party. Hot tuna toddy sounds good (I like tuna).

Rocket: I don't know if I made it down to the green floor (my mamabean only tested at +8 because she wants my ears to heal and me to get used gradually to testing at different times).

Hi Ronnie: I love you and I hope Luna gets back to the Falls soon.

Ella...haven't gotten to too many condos today; couldn't get on the site for long this morning and then Gracie was bombing on me...and THEN I actually had to do some chores Heaven forbid.

Love your condo and Rusty stories. This dose is working great for him!!! Sounds so cold up there...brrrrrrrrrrr.

Rusty...you did AWESOME in the kitchen last night. Thanks for dealing with the wasabi...my little delicate paws cannot get into it too much!! You will be a Sous Chef like Tess and me in no time!!

Walk sounds really nice - i hope you can go snowshoeing tomorrow. But yes, 19 is cold... normal temps for your winter?

Actually, +19 degrees F. would be considered a little on the warm side here when real winter arrives. We routinely go down to 0 or below at night, rising to 10 or 12 during the day (but usually not until January). Once we had a "picnic" when it was +4 degrees (skied to a lean-to on a lake, everyone carrying 3 sticks of wood for the fire, cooked hot dogs, and got outta there!!!)

Yes, Rusty's numbers are remarkably even. This seems to be his pattern, but I don't have enough data yet to know for sure.

Is he that vocal of a cat that you can say he's a singer? Any chance you can get a video?

(lots of inside stuff here I haven't caught onto - just learned what the heck a nanner was after a month and a half).

Maverick isn't very vocal until 5AM - then its I guess singing country music about how he left his family when he was young and lived in a barn? Well not singing but definitely telling a sad story.
