12/5 Pearl AMPS 210, +3 297 PRED day

Oh, I'm going to die. Pearl is acting fine, but these numbers are NOT GOOD. the +3 297 is before Pred - I know I can't be expecting her to handle the Pred in her usual champ way right now and I expect it's going to really shoot her through the roof.

Oh no. What sort of increase in blood sugar do you expect, 30-50 points? Or is it more of a % raised?

Oh no. What sort of increase in blood sugar do you expect, 30-50 points? Or is it more of a % raised?

Well, historically on her Green days, the Pred days would put her up maybe 75 points max into the blue for awhile. Before that when she was unregulated, there was definitely more of a spike, so I really expect her to be in the red during this cycle now. I am terrified and refuse to check her BG until PMPS And yes checking for ketones in urine. I really cannot believe this is happening - I hope in time we will have a great story to tell and encouragement to give, and I know now she just has to stay on her Pred days and not try tinkering with bringing her off or trying a different steroid. She did throw up dinner last night so I can confirm at this point an IBD flare is underway, too.

We don’t know for sure if budesonide caused her to go out of remission. Perhaps it did and will take time to reverse. Perhaps the IBD has compounded this. I don’t think any other steroid would have less effect on her bg.

Don’t forget the depot has not yet formed.
