can u crush 1 temptation and put as topping on his food....see if that works...one gets creative when dealing with kitties that don't want to eat!!!!

His numbers are fine, Keri, you don't need to go to extremes at this point. If he isn't hungry right now, it's ok...you could just hold off and offer again in a little while.

I really prefer to stick with the wet food to manipulate the numbers....only use dry food if nothing else works. I would use karo on gums before that. His numbers don't warrant that at this point. The dry food takes too long to work, and hangs around too long. JMHO

ok, well he hasn't had anything more than the 4 temptations..at 11pm my time (for my reference)
i will be testing in fifteen minutes..

So seeing what his 2U dose does..I know it is too early really...But does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of dosage to give in the AM, being that yes, shockingly I will be away all day at work...
especially because it appears that he never eats when he should be...

You really do need to see where he is tomorrow am--Using a timed feeder??--That could helps some-
Dose really shouldnt be reduced unless he gets 50 or under for a newbie, but I understand you are out all day--
Think Sienne is on early, so you could ask her in the am--He will probably bounce tomorrow somewhat, so you may not have to worry that much--
You did great--BTW temptations need to be fed 6-10 at one time to have an effect--
Hey Look at Moonie's numbers tomorrow & we can see how they affected her(must have given her 20 tonite-they are small)--The experiment :lol:

I would give some karo with next test only if Mowgli isnt coming up--You do need to sleep NO??--Hope he comes up soon should be by +6..

Another BTW--A cat Will eat cat food when it feels itself dropping, as Moonie has proven to me a 100 tiimes--She free feeds, so I watch to see when she eats-
every hour to 1 1/2 hrs she will have some food..When I am home she eats less becuase she feels good & safe!

Keri it's much too early to think about what to give in the morning, you need to see how this cycle plays out and where his numbers are in the morning. You've been doing a good job of deciding what dose to give....it really is what you are comfortable with! DO post and ask for help, talk it over with whoever is here (I may be, but I can't promise!) but you have to be comfortable with whatever you decide, ok?

Not all cats will eat when they get low....Pat's Shadow is one example. Tinkles won't eat if I'm not here, he will sleep right through it...I've come home to low numbers several times, food uneaten.

i guess the four temptations were truly just a treat then! LOL Lucky guy, he showed me!
Mowgli's eatting has TOTALLY changed since he has been diagnosed and on insulin...so that is another thing I am getting used to..
I don't have a timed feeder..i have been leaving one frozen puck out during the day for all three kitties..and some days i come home and it appears no body wanted more than a few bites.. Same as night time, I know that my civvies snack not so sure what mr.mowgli does..
is confusing..
As for me an sleep?? i am starting to live on energy drinks and coffee!!!

Rocket eats when he is low but not always....so hit and miss with him....but i also have to take into account that he is on soooo many meds....lately when i have tested him low i gotta bring the food to him as he won't get up to eat....

So he isn't a fan of gravy? Didn't you say he loves the fishy food? You could try that, add a bit of gravy on top...

he is currently snubbing all the foods...even the fishy ones...
his +5.5 is 76 but could this be from treats already?

Yes the treats do work & probably brought him up--After so much time with Moonie here, I know that will get her up in an emergancy--or karo which I hardly ever use, but will if I need to--As she gets older, she is more picky(if that is possible :lol: )
You did terrific tonite! Getting more data on your ss like you did the last few days will help you get a good indication of when his nadir is & when he starts to go up--I know you work, so do your best!--76 is a great number--You will be able to sleep soon--

could the abs make him nauseaus hence the lack of appetite? abs make Rocket nauseaus but then again he has also CRF and in turn i have to give him zantac for acid build up (once again CRF related)....

well he only has two days left of abs and he has been on them since........well it feels like forever...let me look...well he has been on them for 19 days...and has been relatively ok..his appetite change has been, with all honesty since he has been getting good numbers..
which doesn't make sense..you would think "lower" numbers would want to make you eat...he just lays around and growls, lol

That's a good point, Claudia. A/Bs often cause tummy upset, nausea. When do you go back to see Doug?

He hasn't said i needed to come in for any follow ups yet, I am going to send mowglis ss to him tomorrow..He isn't on tomorrow but I will talk to him tuesday forsure...

Maybe you could talk to him about the dental now that his numbers are improved. It would be good to get that done. His lack of appetite may be related to the teeth too.

He is surfing soo nicely, Keri! If he won't eat any food, you might want to give him a few more of the treats so you can get some sleep...I think it would be fine to do that. Leave food out of course.

ya i will definetly talk with doug about the teeth, i think that will help..especially because doug suspects it is more than one tooth...
he is thinking on of the canine..one back molar and one of the bottom (below canine)..But obviously won't know before he gets in there and cleans, pokes and prods.
ya, i am starting to get sleepy....
one civvie in bed already, one curled up next to me and mowgli, and mowgli out like a light bulb..lol

Do you have any Fortiflora? That will always get Tess to eat. Just sprinkle a little on not the whole packet, it has the same flavoring that they spray on the kibble to make it appealing.

Forti-flora is a good idea too. I'm thinking his tummy is unhappy with the AB...some people use pepcid AC for that, but I don't have any personal experience with it.

I hope he is a bit higher for you...ni-ni Keri.

he is a lil higher..didn't eat but gave 3 more temptations..
