WCR: all I can say is this front loading is a miracle! I know her numbers are a coincidence and not purely from front loading last night but I'll take them however I get them! She did pretty good with her front loading last night except for at +1. I don't think she was hungry and we really had to prod her to eat. How does front loading work if the cat is not interested in eating? What if we front load and for whatever reason she still drops very low after her +3 and wont eat? I guess we will take those problems as they come. This morning is going to be another hard morning for us to front cycle because we normally leave right after her shot but unfortunately we just can't arrange our weekend mornings. We will do the best we can when we can on the weekends. Have a great sunday everyone!

Re: 12/5 mocha amps 78

Very nice amps for Mocha....Wooohooo.

I also front load Curry since her nadir is at +3. I use to give her food at shot, +1, +2 and +3. I now just put all her food in the dish (for the morning or evening meal) and let her eat. She now has most of it finished by +1.5. She use to dive quickly and this is how I'm trying to slow down the bg decrease. For now anyway. She started to learn to eat more when I left the food out for her. Of course, I still need to "fluff her food" sometimes or put chicken dust on it.

Have a great day.

Re: 12/5 mocha amps 78

not sure if this will help devon, but when i switched binks to the four minimeals at 0,1,2,and 3...i had to cut back on the amount i fed for a couple of days...he was hungry, so he hung out at the dish, and caught on by the 2nd day to his new routine

great amps, mocha jo!

Re: 12/5 mocha amps 78

Awesome amps! YAY! We front load too - the auto feeder as helped, but Mannie just doesn't always use it. We also split out what used to be his morning meal allotment into 4 sections. With the first feeding he was still hungry - for us he was able to eat them all. then again - he can be such a hoover that I often think he'd eat anything that was placed in front of him. I wish you luck with it all.

Re: 12/5 mocha amps 78 +4.5 69

Ok so here is the situation .. we didn't go anywhere this morning on account of mocha being on the low side for her morning number. Stayed home and did the front loading but now we really do have to go and she is only continuing to drop. We have to feed MC at +4.5 when technically she should not be eating at all right now, right?

Claudia, I have to say your post was very funny!

Thanks to everyone else who gave feeding advice ... we can't really just put mochas food in her bowl and let her come back to it when she is hungry. We have a civvie who we don't let eat wet food so that wouldn't work for us. I would hate to cut back on how much she eats because she is maintaining herself at a nice weight but maybe we will have to for a few days. Today she seems much better at eating at each hour.

Re: 12/5 mocha amps 78 +4.5 69

Devon...nice numbers today. We do front loading in 4 helpings....I actually calculate how many calories/day Gracie gets; I already have a table I made that shows me how many calories are in an oz of each food I give her. I take her total calories/day (140) and divide into two portions so she gets 70 calories in the a.m. and 70 in the p.m.; then I feed her those 70 calories in four minimeals. Of course, if she's dropping and I have to give her extra food to manage her curve, then all bets are off for that day but most days we are able to do this and she has been maintaining her weight...we weigh weekly. Gracie has always gotten minimeals so this works well for her.

Good luck....no advice on leaving and what you should do if you can't leave food out.

Re: 12/5 mocha amps 78 +4.5 69 +6.5 108

ok well we had to leave right after she ate her MC at +4.5. Got back at +6.5 and she was at 108. Have to go back out now, hoping she surfs.

Lisa, front loading means feeding at her PS and then +1, +2 and +3. Trying to get her numbers to stabilize themselves. We are very new at it too, but lots of people have had success with it apparently.

Peter and Devon front loading or not I'm thrilled for you to have Mocha at these numbers I know how hard it is to see yellow and pinks or worse every day. What ever works go for it. Seems to be helping  Looks like you may need one of those new fangled feeders I been hearing about :-D
