Hi!
So it actually may not be so bad!
We were with the IM vet for over two hours. She is AWESOME!! So thorough and compassionate. The BW Texas AM (Maldigestion Panel) all normal.
She wanted to get a look at his colon but again Mr Ming was full of poop! She gave him a Pet Enema in lieu of that watery one that makes such a mess. She said if he doesn't "go" by mid day tomorrow he has to go back and get it. He went shortly after we got home
Since he has such a long history of constipation that made her question some things. She suspected and proved by xray that the colon wall no longer appeared to be thickened. She proposed that perhaps after three enemas that it could very well be edematous (swollen). The xray she took today appeared to confirm that but she wants Ming to get cleaned out and then schedule to have him back after 12 hours of fasting and she wants to do another ultra sound. So the bottom line this all may very well be just a really bad bout of constipation. She told me to weigh him once a week to keep an eye on his weight. Skip the pumpkin because it could be bulking up his stool. Increase the Miralax from 1/4 tsp 2x/day to 3/8 tsp and continue to increase until he passes stool daily that is soft not runny. She told me to discontinue the Metronidazole as he doesn't have diarrhea, he has the opposite. Stop Cerenia if he is eating and I agree he only stopped eating after the first enema on Wednesday last week. I'm due to call her tomorrow to report back if we got poop...thankfully we did!!
So here's the exciting part I'm thrilled to share with you all. She prescribed Cisapride. She told me where they order from and if Ming was ok with pilling. I told her that it was actually not too bad when I gave the Cerenia. I put the half pill of Cerenia in a little cream cheese and he loved it. So when we talked about Cisapride she said she was calling it in to a pharmacy called Wedgewood Pharmacy and they can make in a mini tab. I was like I can get it locally at Cross River but she explained the Wedgewood was more than a traditional compound pharmacy but more like a factory where they produced med's different than anywhere else. Cisapride can't be compounded into a liquid other than an oil.
So I looked this place up on line. It is really cool and a great option for anyone that needs meds compounded but with a twist. They are the only ones that can make the Cisapride in their patented "Tiny Tabs" See link here. That is what we are getting.
So this may not be as bad after all, paws crossed. I hope ,I hope and thank everyone for their vetty vines and well wishes. I hope this Wedgewood place helps someone. I'm starting to feel a little guilty for posting about Ming my non FD kitty. Its just everyone here knows so much more than FD and it helps me so much. Thank you!!!
