Good morning!

Pearl is 111 at AMPS. This is injection #2 at 0.25U (shot #2 since I re-started the insulin last night due to suspected effects from Budesonide - she was on Budesonide for 3 weeks).

0.25U has really been able to drag her numbers down a great deal after the first shot, so I am getting nervous about whether this dose will be too much for her to handle once it builds in her system to full strength.

Glad I didn't start any higher; wonder if I should have started with the drop dose (=0.10U on my calipers).

Only time will tell, but you know how to test and stay on top of things. Make sure you get a +1 and a +2 today to see if she's going to bounce from coming down so quickly or surf today. :bighug::bighug:

Margaret -

Are you sure the rise in numbers is due to the budisonide? It looks like you were feeding Pearl A/D. While the canned A/D isn't "awful", it's still 12% carb which likely higher carb than what you'd been feeding Pearl.

Good morning Sienne :) I’m assuming it’s some effect of both the steroid and the A/D (A/D mixed with her usual 0% so it was like 6% carb food at feedings which is still too high for Pearl but maybe would shoot her into the 100s not 300s). Usually her rise due to food dissipates pretty quickly and it’s on day 3 now without it, and her BG was continuing to rise so I have thought that ruled out the A/D as the only culprit. Is this reasoning faulty? I’ve never been down this road before in my head of possibly only food as culprit and of that’s possible, I guess I had assumed the food change alone back to her 0% would have brought her back down by now if she could have done it on her own?

+2 141, +4 185 looks like she is bouncing. ARGH!!!!!!

I think you're right about a bounce today Carla. UGH. Hopefully when she gets back used to insulin, she will be smooth surfing.

I would get a +1 and+2 to see where Pearl is going today.
Thanks, Bron. I am horrified to see her going up, makes me wonder if she will start NADIRing at PS time. I wish I knew how long she was going to be like this, I feel so terrible because I know I am what knocked her out of remission, not her body just giving up the fight.

Oh no Margaret, I wish I could say I'm happy to see you, but not under these circumstances :(
Can't offer any advice, but DON'T beat yourself up about it. You did the best you could.
You'll get through this, you have plenty of help, and you know what you're doing, don't forget that.

I hadn't realized you had switched off of the A/D several days ago. It should be out of Pearl's system. Given how well you know Pearl, it can take some cats a while to acclimate to a food change. I could be the case with your kitty. I think you may just need to keep up the observations and see if you can find a pattern.

Thank you so much for this. I guess the lesson I’ve learned is once you find a steroid that you can deal with, do NOT change it up. I really hope she and I can get back on track quickly.

Thank you Sienne. I can’t see any patterns emerging yet but definitely have my eyes peeled. I was hoping once she came down to 111 she’d stay down, but I guess not yet.
