Happy New Year's Eve, Everyone!
We had a good night and this morning a good test (first poke!!). I've finally figured out how best to use the new lancet device, and the BD lancets are indeed superior (thanks Ann!). Edward says that Rusty was tearing around last night, but I didn't hear him and he was sleeping peacefully between us when the clock rang. But he may have been active, because he was only marginally interested in playing this morning. He ate a good Wellness turkey breakfast and we had a good shot (although I still don't know what amount I'm really shooting: trying for a fat 0.25). All Ps present.
Busy day today of cooking. In a few minutes I will start on the traditional lentil soup for our Midnight supper (so it has time to blend). Then some salads, etc. Edward's potato bread, baked yesterday, looks wonderful. The smoked turkey and ham were ordered online and only have to be brought to room temperature. We'll also have smoked salmon, cheeses, and Xmas cookies for dessert. Sonoma brut (and beer) to drink. I'm a vegetarian so I hope I don't get "meat poisoning"!!! We are having 21 people for a double sit-down dinner: a 5 P.M. light supper (to fortify the guests as they head out to the various venues of "First Night"), and a Midnight supper. Edward and I and any guests who don't want to go wandering around the village will stay here for the evening and watch a classic Munich 1980 "Die Fledermaus" on DVD. Rusty has to get the barn in shape for the kitties' party, so all of us will be busy.
Everyone have a good, safe evening welcoming 2011.

Hey all you kitties! Big barn party at my place to celebrate the New Year! Everyone invited. Mannie will pick you up in the bus. Binks is the Master of Ceremonies. Moonie and I will lead the Kitty Chorus in "Auld Lang Syne". Master Chef Mannie and Sou Chefs Tess and Gracie and I (Journeyman Cook Rusty) will be whipping up New Year's refreshments for the gang. See you all later!
