Good morning LL ~O)

Well so far so good. I guess we're in an OTJ trial but it seems awfully early so I'm not going to get my hopes up too high. It is good to know that there's hope that we caught this illness early enough that Molly's pancreas may be able to function properly again!

So, day 2 of no insulin.

Day 1
AMBG 68
surfed between low 80s and mid 50s
PMBG 57
+4.5 52

Day 2
AMBG 53

Molly's looking good and has been doing zoomies around the house. Haven't seen her do this in ages!

Hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve. Sending healing vines to those who are feeling poorly.

Here are the instructions for a trial.

  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).
  • If your cat is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If she is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If her number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then her pancreas is working!
  • After 2 weeks, if everything is looking good, we have a party!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support she needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

That's great on Day 2 of no insulin! I hope Molly keeps surfing green for you. Have a great New Year's Eve.
