Happy Friday!!!!

Maverick seems to be liking the .5skinny (more like a consistent .25). He's getting spoiled and won't eat his food without a liberal amount of chicken dust. So I'm going to walmart today to buy another flavour of food - Special Kitty ocean whitefish and Tuna I believe is the next lowest carb option available to Canadians. The fish foods don't have enough calories for Maverick to maintain his weight. But now that he has maintained his weight for so long, I think we'll give it a try. He is an extremely picky eater though. Also I think the fish foods are not the best for an asthmatic cat - I recall reading that they can add to inflammation.

Happy New Year! What a great amps - I too think that Maverick likes this dose. And hooray for chicken dust - it has to be a staple in so many kitties homes now. Have a great day guys!

Man those picky eaters can have use jumping. :smile: Glad he has held his weight. I know your happy with that. Very nice amps. This dose is looking good.

good luck with the new flavour, my sister has a picky cat and she pulls her hair out trying to find something her cat will eat. I know my kitties have a hard time with fish flavours, even though they love it they almost always get sick from it so only on special occassions does the tuna come out.

I didn't realize this. So I'm wondering if you guys know why. I thought I was using Binky's list for Canada. Maverick's BG is doing amazing with Walmart Special Kitty Turkey and Giblet (FF impacted his BG even though its supposed to be lower in carbs).

I just realized today - I've been buying the small cans for 50cents each. There are larger cans for 48cents. But the ingredients differ. So I didn't buy any to feed him. I just bought one can so I had the ingredients/can to compare.

The smaller can says "Special Kitty SELECT, Ultra Gourmet Cat Food". This is what he is doing amazing on and up until recently ate it without chicken dust.

The larger can says "Special Kitty Premium Cat Food".

And the ingredient list is different.

Have you guys noticed this? I guess I'll stick with the small can line - we are trying ocean whitefish and tuna dinner today - next up on Binky's list for carb content. But I don't have a clue if its the right food Binky's list wise.

I am equally unknowledgeable about the food but the AMPS are great and it is wonderful to see Maverick's weight holding!!! Good luck with the food! And Happy NY Eve!!

I haven't figured out how to get the readings out of the relion contour meter when I forget to update the spreadsheet right away. I put a post it note pad beside our testing doggie bed but haven't made it a habit to write the reading down yet. Have to read the instruction manual.

I've been feeding Frip Fancy Feast so don't know.. (I stock on them when Wal-Mart has a sale at 0.48¢) but I think I'll check the Special Kitty ocean whitefish and Tuna next time... Where do you get Chicken Dust?

I get this at Petsmart and put it in the Magicbullet blender. You could just squish them in a baggie too.

I can't find it on the petsmart site though (US only shows up) so I googled it and found what I buy on Amazon.

Its just pure freeze dried chicken. Maverick gets pieces of it after his shot. He purrs like crazy through the shot and testing knowing he's going to get this as a treat. Our heart dog loves them too - no salt. And I got all my moms dog and MILs dog some for Christmas. They love them too. My MILs dog kept pulling away the bag lol.

Indeed, I use these as treats for Atlas too. And they come in several flavors!

If you are scrimping on money, but them over in the dog food section at PSP. The bigger doggie bags are more cost effective. They are all the same dog or cat. :lol:

Beautiful numbers for Maverick! I don't know the answer to the food question, sorry!

You have a Relion Confirm meter, right? For getting the test results off the meter....hold the top button in for about 5 seconds, the meter will come on and display the average after a few seconds. If you keep pressing the button, the tests will come up in reverse order (newest to oldest). You hold the bottom button in for about 5 seconds to turn the meter off, or it will shut itself off in a few minutes.

Laurie you ROCK! I don't have to pull out the owners manual now. I was able to pull up his last test and turn it off too (saving the battery). Thank you.

Maverick's hips are really bothering him today. He looks like he's in a bit of pain. Racing me to the back door today he slipped on the kitchen floor and did the splits. He never tries to move fast on the kitchen floor. And he did try and race me up the stairs today for some reason (instead of one leg up, then other leg onto the same stair - he did one foot per stair). I had held off on starting the cosequin because I thought he would stop eating the food. I didn't even think of syringing it to him. So starting tomorrow he is going to be syringed cosequin every day.
