The quarter unit doses can be hard to see. I'd suggest getting reading glasses, a magnifying glass, craft goggles for fine work, etc. so you can better see what you're doing. Increasing by 0.5u could put Khan over a good dose and be a set up for big time bouncing.

Whatever you can do to transition Pepper to wet food, even is it's S/D, will help. Get as much water into his diet as possible. Dr. Lisa has good information on her website about blockage and the importance of hydration.

LOL! you got it.. I really really do need reading glasses.. just picked up vision insurance. Funny you said get reading glasses since I know I really do need them. I will go back to 1.25u tonight. I'm home all day and plan on checking frequently.

If the numbers don't come down don't you think something else is going on?

recommendations? thoughts?

i've got over-the-counter reading glasses AND a magnifying glass...shot time round here looks like a science experiment!

hope the new dose helps bring Khan down...and the canned works for pepper...

Karrie, are you home today to get lots of tests? It would be helpful to see what is going on. There are hints that Khan could be bouncing, but it's hard to say for sure.

I have always hated the in-between doses, but they are a necessary evil. Sometimes you can find something else on the syringe to line up with, for example maybe the back part of the plunger will line up on a line or something. Measure what you think is 1.25 and take a good look at the syringe and see if you can find something consistent you can use to measure. Otherwise, you can measure 1.5 and then squeeze out a certain number of drops of insulin (practice so you can get consistently sized drops). I also ended up buying a cheap pair of over-the-counter reading glasses, which really helped.

Thanks. A bunch of my friends have said the same thing about OTC reading glasses. I will work on the lining the syringe up or even the drops- which is a good idea too. I'm home all day and night through the weekend- no plans on really going anywhere too long. I had to run to Walmart at 9pm last night with 2 - 3 1/2 yr olds- what a joy! since I forgot I had only 4 strips left. Thank goodness the weather was fine and the kids were just fantastic. Only boxes left were 20s so I bought two. I have enough food as well. I checked Khan 1 hr ago which was +4.5 .. how often do you suggest I check? I thought:
+5.5, 6.5, 8, 11.

Thoughts?

well either the meter or strip was wacky or the real reading was 25 and the little bit of HC food fed bounced him rt up to 199. wow
 
hmmm, interesting. Where is he now?

And did you really wait 45 minutes before retesting after a 25? If they are that low, really you should HC and test again in 15 minutes. If they're in the 20s, you really, really have to be sure you put the brakes on the drop.

I really don't understand what is going on with Khan's numbers. Hopefully the next two will provide more of a clue. Why so high? Pmps read:: HI so I retested and it read 433. I will keep testing thruout the night
