Hi Maddie, I hope Kai has a gentle slide down. He’s seen some very green numbers. Must be some major bouncing!Yesterday's Thread

Kai and I have come a long away since then and have learned a lot. I am very thankful for everyone here on the forum and I wish you all a happy New year! God speed! And may you all have a nice and calm start to the new year
Nice start, maybe a green is in the cards tonight
I can’t remember, do you have a reason to feed the different carb percentages? I could see the higher % food having an impact on insulin needs, not sure how big of an impact though.
Some cats are more carb sensitive than others, so ECID in this as well. We generally recommend feeding below 5% carbs. So I was curious if anyone might have some insight on whether or not the difference in carb% between the AM and PM meals could have a big impact. And should i get rid of the 9% and find a new flavor in the 2-5% carb range.
So like tonight's +4 reading lol... is that a terrible dive? I'll feed him another snack of the 9% and then test in 30 min to see if he is rising. And I'll also pick ups some less than 5% cans tomorrow for us to start trying. Thank you, Bhooma! Some cats are more carb sensitive than others, so ECID in this as well. You might want to use the 9% when he dives and you want to slow him down and flatten the curve.
You want to feed higher carbs earlier in the cycle when insulin action is stronger. Later in the cycle, it generally takes less carbs to boost numbers/keep numbers flat. Next time, you want to feed the 9% at +2 because of the drop and also because bounce clearing cycles have greater downward momentum. So like tonight's +4 reading lol... is that a terrible dive? Gotcha! That makes sense. I'll remember that for next time. Thank you!You want to feed higher carbs earlier in the cycle when insulin action is stronger. Oh Boy! We have not tried the After Dark flavors yet, we tried some of the Luau flavors in the early stages of switching to wet food and Kai wasn't a fan so I probably gave up too early on the Tiki Cat brand. Since then I can tell that Kai's taste buds have expanded. The After Dark line has so many non-fish flavors! That will be a great place to start trying, thank you for the suggestion! And you are right the proteins are way better than most! I think I will grab one of the After Dark 2.8oz can variety packs tomorrow and start taste testing. I also have some outdoor kitties that me and my entire neighborhood feed
so whatever Kai dosen't like i can give to them... they will eat anything lol
