Bell may have decided that she wants me up to celebrate the new year tonight. Bell's new year resolution is to stop being a bouncy-ball. Or maybe that was mine for her...

Between work and taking care of her (among other things) 2025 was one of the hardest years for me. I just want to thank this community for helping me through all that. Thank you to the experienced folks who have guided us through this thing. Thank you to you amazing people who keep tabs on every thread (no idea how you manage this). Thank you for the mods and the admins (super excited to bust out my FDMB calendar tomorrow). And thank you all for taking such great care of your kitties.

around PMPS +5 bell has had some very strange ataxia where it seems like one or both or her hind legs became very uncoordinated. She was stumbling and weaving. She was also extremely hungry. I got her at +5 at 50. Then tested 5 min later at 51. She EXTREMELY aggressively gobbled up her food. At +5.5 I gave her some 14%, which she also gobbled up, unsteady as she was. She currently laying on my lap. This has happened once before and I assumed it was an adverse reaction to Solensia, which she’s been off of for awhile. She recovered from that episode in a couple hours.

I got a +7 at 48 and gave her a bunch more MC. She is now moving normally from what I can tell. Could this have been a hypo episode? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen her as frantically hungry as around that +5. She was stumbling and dragging herself to her food and then aggressively scarfing it down. Even now at the +7 at 48, she is moving ok and hungry but not nearly as panicked. Very very odd.

Oh wow Seth, how is Bell doing?
What a night you had! I’m so sorry 😞
I really hope she’s recovered!! Sending you lots of hugs and prayers 🙏🙏🙏💓💓❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

I hope she’s ok too. Was it exactly the same as last time with the legs? Keep us posted.

Thank you Cecile! I hope you have a wonderful 2026!

It was very scary. I am still not sure what was going on, but she seems ok now. She just jumped up and down from the bed and ate her food.
Is Bell’s heart okay?

Maybe there’s something wrong with your meter?

I'm so sorry you both had to go through that last night, Seth! 😳 That's so scary! For what it's worth, I had a really similar thing happen with Xander once (though instead of the leg issues, he was shaking so hard he looked like he was vibrating), and he was also only in the 50s-60s. I wonder if maybe some days a number is too low and others it's not... The same way some days you're up to a run or you're not. Maybe it was just the wrong day for her to go low. I obviously don't know anything, but it was kind of what I settled on when it happened to Xander.

Happy New Year! 💖✨ I agree that 2025 was one of the worst. Good freaking riddance. I hope Bell is feeling better and she has lots of (hypo-free) greens in the new year!
