Wasn't sure what to feed when I saw this AMPS. I went ahead and gave him 7% (1/2T) along with his usual 4% (1.0T). It's hard throwing higher carbs at a number like this but if it might help ward off a bounce, isn't that the right thing to do?

See Zeke's Condo from Yesterday for food discussion. Would you give 7% at this high a number? I posed the following question in yesterdays' condo but never got a response. Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Another factor might have been what he ate for breakfast today. Your SS says 1.5T of 4% carbs. Then no more food before you saw that 92, right? Nothing at all wrong with that, but you can see that without a big carb load from breakfast, once the insulin kicked in, it did it's job well.

My question was:

Should I just get in the habit of feeding him 7% regardless of the numbers and not try and predict what he's gonna do?

I shall refrain from commenting further regarding this AMPS but you know I'm :o :? :-x  nailbite_smile nailbite_smile nailbite_smile

I resumed the f1.0u dose.

Re: 12/30 Zeke AMPS = 303

It will be interesting to see what his +2 shows. Sorry I don't have any feeding advice..never really messed with Twice's 0-5% foods, except to help him surf a bit. And forgive me Laura, if I'm missing something here. I have no idea how much Zeke weighs and if he's on a diet, but a couple times I have done the calorie math for him, and was wondering if he is getting enough to eat?? I only ask because my own experiences were that when T didn't eat 'enough' his numbers were wonky (possibly due to pancreas and liver trying to compensate and just fighting each other??) So...if I am way out to lunch, my apologies :-D :?
BTW- love how you set up your ss with the subnumber system :-D

Re: 12/30 Zeke AMPS = 303; +2 = 261 (Flat - Yuck)

No more 7% this cycle. In fact, no more food. I don't like this start. :YMSIGH:

Time to break out my Patience Straitjacket.

Re: 12/30 Zeke AMPS = 303; +2 = 261; +4 = 165

Off to work. He dropped about 100 in 2 hours. He's about 2.5 hours from nadir. Even if he drops another 100, he'll be safe. I will just leave some 4% out for him JIC.

Remember that part of this on the numbers could be because you drained his depot a bit yesterday. He's already coming down so that's good.

My guess is that when he's high, the 7% is not making him higher. At least not much. The way he drops, I'd tend to stick with the 7% early and then as he comes down, if he's not dropping like crazy and once he gets past the time that he does like to drop and be low, you "could" switch to 4%. However, my gut for him tells me it's better to stick with consistency and see if a consistent 7% can help flatten him. If it does and his nadirs aren't where you want, we can edge the dose up.

Our goal is to use LC food consistently at certain times to flatten the curve.

Manage the curve with food--------> flatten the curve----------> adjust the dose (if necessary)

Yes, all is well. I've updated his ss. Thanks for checking in on us Marje.

Messed up the food in the PM cycle. Fed him ~ 1.25T of 12%. The AM cylcle only consisted of 7% & 4%.
