Good evening everyone on the eve of New Year's Eve,
Beautiful day here with quite a bit of snow so far (and more to come). This is wonderful! We'll be a able to go snowshoeing on New Year's Day.
Rusty is having a pretty flat blue day. We'll see where he is tomorrow and whether or not he gets a dosecrease. He enjoyed the Newman's Own Turkey & Turkey Liver, and also FF T&G (the cans marked Nov. 2018 seem to be especially good). He slept a lot today in his perch over the radiator. He's sitting on the couch right now, waiting for me to come downstairs. Rusty has developed a taste for plain, no-fat Greek yogurt. Edward gives him a spoonful every day at lunch time, and it is wonderful to watch him lick that spoon, his eyes half- closed in pleasure. Who would have thought?
Edward's Hungarian potato bread turned out well (we think). It's a huge loaf and will feed 12 people nicely. Tomorrow will be a day of getting ready for the party. I'll be making Liptauerkäse to go with the potato bread. This is a cheese spread that is popular in Austria and the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. It consists of butter, cream cheese, a little cottage cheese, onions, capers, caraway seeds, and lots of sweet paprika. Not exactly low in cholesterol but it sure tastes good. It makes a good dip for pretzel sticks, too.
Thinking of you all tonight and hoping that all kitties and beans who are under the weather will be feeling a lot better soon. bbl,
