Yesterday was a blue day bookended by pink and then Neko decided to reach for the full moon. It was after all, bounce recovery day, and often the second cycle of the bounce is worse.

After fighting with the bubbles in the syringe again this morning, I resolve to see if I can find something other than BD syringes locally. Tracy (Leo) and Karre (Maverick) have mentioned finding monojects so I'll have to see if I can find a place that doesn't support the BD monopoly in Canada. Some boxes of BD are good, like the previous one, but the majority, like the current, are just horrible. It's so hard to be consistent dosing when you just can't get rid of a bubble.

On the sunny side, it is SUNNY outside. Yeah! I feel like I have to squint to look outside. :lol: Both cats have spent time sunning in the solarium, Neko has had a couple of yard patrols to celebrate. Neko hasn't snacked any litter since last night when I closed the door to the room with the LB and fresh litter in it. There are two other LB's she has access to. I'm going to see if I can find some clumping pine litter to sprinkle on top and mask the smell. When Neko was first diagnosed with FD, she was constantly litter snacking, but it seemed to ease off for half a year. It's just started up in the last month again.

Hey Wendy. so, how many carbs in LB? ...sorry, bad joke. I hope you find a way to get rid of the bubbles. It's so worrisome when you don't know what dose you've actually got in the darn needle. I'm glad to hear you had sunshine and the kitties found spots to enjoy it. have a good evening mary and oliver

Nice slide into blue for Neko. Someone gave me some BD syringes and I get bubbles in them. I don't like them very well. I usually use Relion, but I figured I'd try the BD since they were free. I hope you can find some other syringes.

HI Wendy and Neko, good luck with the syringe hunt, we order off of adw and use the thinpro. Snacking on litter huh? Weird! Hope you can get that to stop! Nice slide down today, pretty close to green! Hope you have a nice PM cycle!

Now if only she could hold it down there for a while. Low blue is pretty! :-D

I got new freeze dried treats for the kitters, duck tongues and duck heart! They love them both. They've had quail and chicken hearts before so no surprise on the duck hearts. I've been wanting to try the duck tongues, but the place I normally frequent for freeze dried food has only had the large bag which is too much to buy if they don't like it. They are chewy so good for cleaning the teeth. The good news is that another raw specialty store near me is now selling lots of freeze dried treats. :-D There's even freeze dried liver and heart from turkey, venison and buffalo. The treats are all in the dog section, but lots more choice now.

@Mary - The litter is corn, so probably LOTS of carbs. Neko is on her fourth trip out - she is loving the dry weather.

@Carla - Now that I've heard of others finding other syringes in Canada, I'm going to keep hunting. The big pharmacies only carry the one brand, but maybe the small or specialty stores might carry others.

@Michelle - I can't order things from ADW and get them sent to Canada. :sad: And we have no CDW in Canada. :YMSIGH: I've seen other cats snack on the corn based litter before at the shelter, just not great for diabetics. But Neko is even closer to green now!

Good luck with the syringes. If you get Monojects, I hope you have better luck with Canadian made ones. The US made ones are very inaccurate due to the needle coming into the hub varying distances so its hard to draw a consistent dose.

One of my cats eats litter but it's because he is anemic. He started on the normal clumping litter. I didn't want it clumping in his stomach so I tried crystal and pine. He ate the crystal. Gross. But he doesn't eat pine. I use Equine Pine. $5 for a 40 lb bag. I guess he did me a favor :-D

Whenever I would put new crystal in he would run and start snacking on it. But if I went to go stop him he would quick squat and pretend to pee, then dart away.
He licks pots and pans and also cement. I found him eating my hair from the carpet a few times. He is one weird cat.

Not a bad "food spike". When I've tested before she's gone up about 30 points after her PS meal. Last time she had a green preshot (86) she zoomed up to 212 an hour later. Having shot a 86 before, there was no hesitation on the 87 this time. :-D

@Marje - I'm not sure if the Monojects would be Canadian made. BD seems to have almost a monopoly here so I suspect others are imported.

@Angela - I agree on the totally gross eating the crystal! Neko only likes things that are food, and corn is food in her eyes. After all, it's a main ingredient in a lot of kibble.
