I think Max went up gradually but maybe he surfed low blue and then went up this morning. I keep hoping he will stay under 120 but I'm happy that at least he hasn't been having big bounces, just these mini ones. He must be over the renal threshold enough of the time for him because he still urinates a lot. That is the next thing I hope will change. For 17 years he is doing pretty well I guess. I do think that he is deaf or at least has lost much of his hearing.

I'm praying for Jimmy the handsome giant bichon as he gets ready to cross the rainbow bridge and my dear friend and her husband. Prayers and vines to all beans and kitties in need.

:DI forgot to give Max his bp med so he got it 2 hours late. He is much more alert which makes me wonder again if his bp is really high or white coat syndrome. I know it got up to 220 but this is one skittish cat. I have to err on the side of caution but I have to keep wondering if that is why he sleeps so much and so deeply. Marta is here to clean so that is why the +1.5 with a higher amps. He got extra baby food with his gelcap just now.

Interesting observation about the BP medication, Elise. I wonder?

You know, Max is really looking fantastic. Such a good job you've done with him.

I remember when BudDog lost his hearing. I had a hard time determining if he couldn't hear or wouldn't listen. Stood behind him once and said "cookie"? No reaction. He couldn't hear!

Max is a super boy. He's so lucky to have you...and you, him.

Prayers for Jimmy. And his mom.

It's possible on the BP meds! I know when mine is running low, I have no energy whatsoever and just want to lay around and sleep! Sure wish there was a good way to be able to check them at home!

Nice slide today Max! You and China being good kitties for a change?....LOL

Nice greens for Max today. Callie is 18 1/2 yrs. She doesn't hear very well. If I'm behind her, she can't hear me at all.

Thanks for stopping by Chris and Carla.

My friend took Jimmy to another vet, Alice Villalobos, the one that has written the quality of life index and a book on hospice. She gave him another cortisone shot, some herbs, and AD and said to syringe feed him and see how he does. Her husband is furious because he feel he has no quality of life. Hopefully he will rally.

Hi Elise!

Max is looking great again today! Interesting thoughts on the BP. If I remember, I think you've struggled in the past with wondering whether Max's BP was truly high or not. On the peeing, I do wonder if the additional water content of the wet food plus water added to food does make our sugar cats pee a bit more simply because of increased water intake. Eddie pees about the same as the other kitties, which is FAR, FAR less now than it was at diagnosis. Long gone are the days of cement bricks in the box...

Have a good evening, Elise! I'm curious to see where he goes this evening.

More prayers for your friend and Jimmy.

Interesting thought by Jen. For Neko's last urinalysis, her USG was quite a bit lower than the previous time, so I started worrying. Then I realized that I've been adding more water to her food. I do deliberately want my civie to have a lower USG to help his urinary issues and I've been adding the same to Neko's. Before her next urine draw, I deliberately reduced the added water to what I used to add last year, and her USG was back to normal. :)

BTW, you asked a question about quotes yesterday in my condo. If you select the text you want to quote, a little Reply bubble pops up. Just select it, and it'll include it in the top of the text box.

Nice cycle again Max. :D

Hi Jen. Yes I constantly worry that Max needs less amlodipine because he is so lethargic but I can't prove it and don't want him to have a stroke or go blind so I keep giving it to him. He is 17 so that may be the problem. I think Max should be peeing less but I do put a lot of water in his food. When he eats less, rarely, he does pee less. I'm curious to see where he goes tonight as well. He ate his dinner right away instead of waiting for the insulin to kick in which is interesting as well but doesn't tell me what he will do.

I finally figured that out about the quoting. Thanks Wendy. BTW do you think the glucose in the uriine raises the USG? My vet said no but I wonder. It's just 2 months since his last labs and his USG was really well concentrated so I'm trying not to worry about kidney disease.

I was worrying about USG because of Neko's proteinuria. At the time of her better USG, she was running below renal threshold. I don't know if glucose impacts USG but it seemed not to in Neko's case.

Max had had protein in his urine too but with his kidney values and USG so far my vet is not concerned. His ratio on the follow up test was okay when checked. I'm glad Neko is okay too!

Welcome back, Tricia. I hope you had a nice vacation and all is well. I assume you are back. I fell asleep again and woke up to a 79. :D My mom is hanging in there. Thanks for asking. Her birthday is Thursday and hopefully she will let us celebrate. Now I really am going to sleep for real. I'm glad Max behaved himself. Have a great rest of the night.
