12/30 Binnie AMPS 220, learning SLGS

Hi,
Binnie was on a high dose - 5U Lantus - and last evening and this morning I reduced to 4.75. His first glucose curve was 12/28 and is posted on spreadsheet. I did shoot this morning but I was surprised by how low he was, at 220. Do I carry on? At what PS number do I hold insulin? He ate a good breakfast. The only other thing I've changed is to add a tbsp of wet 1% carb food before my bedtime as his overnight fast is otherwise 12 hrs.

If he’s over 200 you can shoot. If under that stall, don’t feed and retest in 20 minutes to see if coming up. Post for dosing advice to see if you should still stall. Otherwise you have choices. Have you read this?

Yes, and this line was my concern:

• Above 200 (11.1 mmol/L) but below the cat's normal pre-shot value, a reduced dose might be wise.

Should I have reduced the dose this morning? Do I hold the course for a week?

No. It was safe to shoot. You had reduced the dose due to the bg nadir falling under 90. You will gradually lower the stall bg and no shot numbers as you see his response to insulin. He is also a long term diabetic that came out of remission which I just noticed. A second remission is harder to obtain so we will likely lower no shot number more quickly. You can safely shoot 200+ now.
