Good number despite the chaos the kittens bring. I think he is used to them now. They go back to their great home tonight. Also I think my brother in Richmond is going to take my mother's cats. He wants them but based on recent comments about not allowing them a LB in the home, he has a lot of convincing to do. His wife says she won't let that happen because they will be her cats. This would be a huge relief. Then things could calm down and I could work on Alska's numbers.

Of course, I will have to restrain myself from being talked into more fostering.

Is he planning on putting in cat doors to a fenced in area? You still have to pick up the poop!

I think he was expecting them to learn that they have to go outdoors for their business - like they will scratch the door to let him know. They just bought a new house. I suspect they will be let out ocassionally but will stay close to home like they did at my mom's house. I am going to insist that they get micro-chipped.

Nice AMPS for Alska today! Max is an indoor/outdoor kitty. He kind of does what you describe. He waits by the door to be let out when he wants out and waits by the door again when he wants in. He chooses what he wants and can go in and out as much as he wants. Max does have a litter box he can if needed. When it's not winter, I can go months without having to clean it cause he mainly chooses to go outside. Winter is a different story with the snow and I clean it regularly.

Alska looking good today!

Years ago, my cats all went outside to do their business, we lived WAY out in the country. Lucian would wake you in the middle of the night if he needed out. Meow Meow, the feral, much preferred the LB and as long as there was one available, she refused to go out. At that time, the only time I used a LB was when we were evac'd for hurricanes and in a motel. Or if we had storms for days and the cats didn't want to go out in them, I'd put down a LB. But never on a regular basis until I moved back to NC and got an apt. In TN, I kept a LB, but they still went out when they wanted to. Loved living in the country, where it was safe for kitties to lay on the deck in the sun. I'm sure they liked it better too. Patches loves to lay in the window sill, get fresh air and sunshine.

Growing up we had 29 cats who went outside and had one barely used litterbox inside. Unfortunately, these cats are 14 and 15 years old mostly indoor-raised felines who are conditioned to use a litterbox. I guarantee they will find a corner inside the house and then he will kill them. We are exploring other options.

Does he really NOT want to take the cats? I may have misunderstood, but that's the way it seems. If that's the case, maybe try rehoming them?

Cats are creatures of habit. If they have always used a LB, then they need to continue to do so. Is there a laundry room or someplace where they could have their LB without it bothering the man of the house?

Just tossing out ideas.....

He says he wants them but he has control issues. Yes there are several places to put a litterbox. He is very self-centered. Sometimes his aggressive talk is liquor induced. I will get them micro-chipped if they go with him.

My mother fretted about who would take care of them. She made me promise I wouldn't let anything happen to them mostly because she knew her sons would shirk responsibility for the cats they brought into the house to begin with.
