Woke up with a pretty big headache, which might account for my craziness of shooting the 87! Now Skooter, if you can give momma a cycle like you did on say 11-29, that would make momma very happy.

Ugh, I think sleeping on the couch is finally starting to takes it toll on me or maybe the stress of thinking Skooter is sick and going to the vet is finally catching up with me, who knows.

I am not sure my meeting schedule today, but regardless of what is going on, I will find time to come home and test him during the day. I still can't believe I shot the 86 on a working day lol

Skooter is still a little off, I think he is still upset with me for taking him to the vet lolol....Thanks for all the info and answers to my questions in yesterday's condo. I will be re-reading them when I get home, so I may have more questions :)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Re: 12/3 Skooter AMPS 87

Nice shooting....surf safely, Skooter!!!

I hope your headache goes away soon...worrying about our little ones can do that to ya. Hopefully he'll quickly forget about yesterday's vetty visit. Have a great day, Molly!

Nice numbers for Skooter!

Not gonna lie, a little relieved, I wasn't sure what he would do today....

I think he is enjoying his bigger portions at meal time :)

So glad I mustered the courage to shoot the 87 this morning!

I think he is doing FANTASTIC today! He seems to be getting around pretty darn good as well....

I have a few things I need to do tonight, so I was going to wait until tomorrow to try the bupe (they said to make sure I would be around to watch him the first time he takes it) -- How long does it take for the medicine to "kick in" and tell me if he is gonna be a mellow boy or hyper boy on this medication?

I also decided I am going to add a LB to the upstairs (in the guest room as I never have guests), so if it is arthritis pain, then he won't have to go up and down the stairs, just to use the LB.

Hope everyone is having a grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! night!

I've got LB's upstairs and down too. Neko spends most of her time upstairs, but I'm surprised how many times she deliberately goes downstairs to use the LB. Hey, it's exercise. :-D

Bupe takes about 1/2 hour to kick in. If it's too much, he'll be stoned and possibly walking like a drunken sailor. What's the dose you've been given? And Skooter's weight? My vet also suggested doing the first dose at night, because they are quieter then.

the dose is 0.1mL and he is 11 pounds 10 ounces currently (we are hoping to get him back to 12 1/2 or so by increasing his fuds)

Re: 12/3 Skooter AMPS 87 1.5 84 +5.5 103 PMPS 105

punkin weighed about 13lbs and got 2ml, so hopefully skooter's dose is in the ballpark and he won't have any trouble with it. I never noticed exactly how long til it kicked in, but it wasn't long.

You know to squirt it in his cheek pocket or under his lips on his gums? it absorbs through mucous membranes. You don't want to just give it orally like other meds.

Re: 12/3 Skooter AMPS 87 1.5 84 +5.5 103 PMPS 105

I should have also asked you for the concentration of the bupe. The most common is .3mg/ml, but one time a vet I took the civie to for a Sunday emergency gave us bupe that was .5mg/ml and slightly higher quantity. I didn't notice the concentration until after I saw him skating awkwardly on my wooden floors. Bupe is dosed on a weight based formula, but there's quite a range that's valid. For the civie, his higher dose was still valid for his weight but way overdose for him.

0.3 mg/ml

They said they could probably triple the dose they gave me, but my vet (and this is something I like about her) likes to try to be as conservative as possible when giving medications.

They made sure to tell me that, I am a little nervous about giving it because I am thinking it is probably not as easy as I am thinking it is going to be lol

He seems to be doing really well tonight.....

And if I recall, someone said I can open the Cosequin and sprinkle it on his food? I am trying to remember though if that can be given at the same time as his insulin.....also since that is once a day, is it better to give the Cosequin in the morning or at night? And if in the morning, should I be waiting until Saturday to give it when I will be home to curve him to see how the Cosequin affects his levels?

Re: 12/3 Skooter AMPS 87 1.5 84 +5.5 103 PMPS 105

You can give the Cosequin whenever it's convenient for you. Neko's equivalent to Cosequin I give half in the AM and half in the PM. Cosequin can take up to two weeks before you see the effects, so I'd just start it now. I haven't heard of anyone here seeing an impact on BGs with it.

Nice shooting this morning! And look how well Skooter did. Yeehaw!

Lots of vines the new meds help Skoot's arthritis. Cosequin helped my Spikey with his arthritis. We also did acupuncture and that helped, too. So, Skoot-ma-goot, get to feeling a little less achy, o.k.

Re: 12/3 Skooter PMPS 105 +1.5 98 +2.5 87 +4.5 81

Yay for a surfin Skooter!!!!!!!

His food was added for his autofeeder for +9 and I will sleep for a bit and wake up at +6.5 to test one more time and give him the last of his food. This increase in food is actually making a bigger impact than I thought it would....I normally am not really consistent with when and the amount he gets at night....normally around each test time and then finish off the can between +4 and +5.5. Now with his increase in food, I don't want him to get overstuffed and throw up if he is not used to the larger portions (sounds stupid, I know).....

I think the second feeder will help as I will just divide up his meals at each preshot for each cycle and make his meals more consistent, which might help with his numbers, who knows?!
