She is down to .1u now - holding steady PSs below 100. I haven't gotten spot checks in a few days because of being gone - and her shot times are still 11a/11p. She's been too low for me to feel comfortable moving earlier by a couple of hours, mainly because there isn't enough dose to reduce it to compensate for the shorter time.

She is eating less, for her, so I am not sure if she isn't feeling well. She did come out to the LR for a few minutes.

Re: 12/3 Cami amPS 86, +4 ~ 85

I should have said, "she came out to the LR for a few minutes and not to pee!" (anti jinx!)

It was 71 here today (Dec in Chicago! I think I heard on the radio it was a record), so I used the lovely weather to take all the annuals out of the window boxes on the balcony and pull out the spent tomato plants. Afterwards, I carried her out there and held her for a few mins, but it was a little windy and I think that scared her a bit.

She's starting to come to the testing table (or near it) when I set up everything. The power of chicken treats! She still complains when I pick her up and put her on the table.

Re: 12/3 Cami amPS 86, +4 ~ 85

Those are just AWESOME numbers at .10U! (Pumbaa, would you please pay attention here? Cami is a really pretty girl kitty, too!)

Is Cami peeing in the litter box more now, instead of on your floors?

71F in Chicago in December is amazing! Glad you were able to take advantage of it before winter rears its ugly head.

Re: 12/3 Cami amPS 86, +4 ~ 85

She was 78 at pmPS after a +8 of 99, so she sagged back down again. Might have given a "fur shot" tonight - she was a bit wiggly wanting to get the chicken. She has the most amazing sense of smell, even for a cat.

I started giving them raw chicken treats at that +8 test and she is really excited about them! It's the most enthusiastic and engaged I have seen her - even more so that when she was totally food focused and would eat anything as if it was the greatest food ever.

Suze, we hit 70 officially at O'Hare. 71 was the old record and we didn't break it. Tomorrow will be "only" 58, but the normal temp should be 39, which I think we will get Weds.

She has not peed on a rug for a while (knock wood / anti jinx), maybe 4-5 days. I have to move LBs around tomorrow because I put the huge rolling Ikea box-table one in my bedroom when I brought her home so that she would have a clean box that didn't smell of any other cats. But that huge one is in front of my dresser and I have to walk sideways between it and my bed. After six weeks, I'm tired of it. So, I hope that doesn't discombobulate her and cause her to pee in the LR or something.

Re: 12/3 Cami amPS 86, +4 - 85, +8 - 99, pmPS 78

The numbers are great to see on Cami and I hope she does more trips to the LR without the need to feel it is her own personal LB!

I got to go to Chicago in March the ONE week it was in the 70's and it was absolutely gorgeous! Then, that Friday, the one day I didn't have my conference and was able to walk around it rained and was in the 50's  I got soaking wet

ETA***

So I am glad you were able to get some last minute porch-keeping done and getting rid of the old stuff. Less to do next spring.

Re: 12/3 Cami amPS 86, +4 - 85, +8 - 99, pmPS 78

Sheila, the raw chicken treats...are they something packaged or are you just cutting up raw chicken for them?

Good luck on the litter box moving! I hope Cami takes well to the change, and continues to pee where she's supposed to. :)

Re: 12/3 Cami amPS 86, +4 - 85, +8 - 99, pmPS 78

I know Sneakers loves it when I do chicken. Even though she gets the raw everyday she still loves the cooked cubes I do for her.

Re: 12/3 Cami amPS 86, +4 - 85, +8 - 99, pmPS 78

Well, we jinxed her - she peed out of the box - but, it was on a tarp, so no harm. I just don't like that she didn't use the box

The raw chicken is pieces I cut from a breast. I thaw out about half a chicken breast and cut it into bite-sized pieces, put it in a bowl with about a TBL of water and micro on med for 10 seconds to get the chill off. Sometimes it gets slightly cooked on the edges, but is still basically raw.

I also make cooked cubes and freeze those. The cats like those too, but they like the raw even better.

I'm a little worried about Beau. He fell off the sink last night which is totally odd for a cat that has gotten up there to drink water every day of his life here (9+ years). I keep a full glass up there for him. Not sure what happened. He was ok and got right back up, but it's still "not normal".

Re: 12/3 Cami amPS 86, +4 - 85, +8 - 99, pmPS 78

Hope Beau is okay...check his ears, Max did that a couple times awhile back and he had a yeast infection in his ears that was throwing his balance off. Which surprised me because he wasn't pawing at his ears, shaking his head or having a head tilt, but when I would rub the base of his ears it sounded squishy.

This one is probably not his problem since all your kitties are indoor only but we had another that had problems with falling off stuff back when everyone was indoor/outdoor and it was a tick that had gotten down in the ear canal and swollen with blood blocking off the ear.

With Cami and the litter box...what litter are you using? One thing I have found with all my declawed cats is that the finer the sand the better they like it. Muse was my first declawed cat and she was so fussy about the LB that she would cover for hours, even another cat's, if it was fine sand. But the one and only time I got a different litter that was fairly course sand she went everywhere but the litterbox. My only thought was that the courser sand hurt her feet when she would dig. Knock wood, but so far with the Tidy Cat scoopable no one is refusing the box because of litter.

But right now I have two that aren't being as good as I would like but that is because one of their sisters has suddenly decided that she has to stalk and knock the stuffing out of them everytime she sees them. Why I have no clue since for 4 years they have gotten along fine and have grown up together. But the one that is doing the bullying is semi-feral and the two being bullied are my two submissive girls. Also all 3 haven't been spayed yet, one can't be because of health problems, and with Tre'Vona the one bullying I haven't done it because its taken me 4 years to even get to touch her for more than 5 seconds, and I didn't want to undo everything by hauling her to the vet's and then leaving her there for the day. But if this new behavior doesn't stop I'm willing to risk it with her. The other one being bullied is Arabella who we didn't realize wasn't spayed until she went into heat...Why someone would have declawed her and not spayed her is beyond me.

Re: 12/3 Cami amPS 86, +4 - 85, +8 - 99, pmPS 78

Thanks, Mel, I will check his ears. You just reminded me that when we went to MI, and met my sister and her two dogs up there, she kept finding ticks on one of them. They had been Frontlined before going up there and she said the ticks acted "drunk" as in, not very adhered to his skin and slowly trying to crawl away. She was checking their bedding and stuff, but I wonder if a random tick could have gotten on Beau or in his ear. I have no experience with ticks, so I guess I should carefully check each cat. I remember watching her and being alarmed over the fact that this dog had, as she put it, stuck his head in a tick city and then come back in the house with them and all my cats were there. Ugh. One more thing to worry about.

I have had LB issues with the submissive cat getting ambushed coming out of the box by another cat. Sounds like it might be time to take the bully in. And, yeah, who would declaw and not spay at the same time? What the h*ll is wrong with people?

I use a litter that is half clay and half sawdust. I used to mix clumping clay and Feline Pine clumping, but now PetSmart makes one that is clay and cedar. Except, I have been noticing that the cedar is in bigger particles now (and tracks more). I was reading about litters for declawed cats and a lot of people use World's Best corn clumping so I thought I would try that. She does dig in the litter, so I am not sure how much the litter is the issue. It might be that she is one that likes a perfectly clean box, or one with only her waste in it, so if the others use a box it is shunned until I scoop it.

She was 78 again at amPS! Shot about .075 just because I tried to squeeze off a drop and it ended up being bigger than I planned, but rolled down the needle before I could "suck" it back into the syringe.

Re: 12/3 Cami aPS 86, +4 - 85, +8 - 99, pPS 78 (amPS 78 on 4

definitely check his ears if he has been around tick country! I had a horse awhile back that came in from pasture walking drunk and she also had a tick buried in her ear. Might even want to have a vet check since cats have very long ear canals, if that little sucker has gotten in deep enough you might not see it just looking. Also if it is a tick they can make a kitty very sick if the tick has either Rocky Mountain Fever or Lime Disease.

Some animals just don't like cedar and it can be really hard on their respitory systems if they are sensitive to it. It always gets me that they make pocket pet bedding out of cedar which is just about the worst thing there is for rodents. Maybe Cami doesn't like the way it smells or then again maybe she is just picky about sharing her box with others. Thankfully I never had one like that or life would be a nightmare around here because everyone lines up to use the boxes right after I clean them.

Sorry to hear about Beau's fall, but I'm *LMAO* about your keeping a full glass of water on the sink for him. My previous cat, Killer (RIP, gone 9 years now) was so spoiled she would ONLY drink water out of a glass I left for her on the nightstand every day. It all started when she would drink from the glass of water I would take to bed with me at night...and escalated from there. *LOL*

Re: 12/3 Cami aPS 86, +4 - 85, +8 - 99, pPS 78 (amPS 78 on 4

Suze, I have you beat on the history of the glass of water on the sink!

Back in 1985 (I am NOT kidding!) my young male cat was harassing the oldest cat and chasing her away from her food and water. She started drinking from the dripping bathroom faucet which didn't drip that much so I filled a glass and left it there for her. Naturally, the two younger cats started drinking from the glass. In 1991 I took in a stray (Murphy) when I still had that same male cat and the cat who was the middle cat back then. They were still drinking water from a glass on the sink (two apartments later). Murphy picked it up and from her the kitten I got, Charlotte, started. Then along came Beau (in 1999). Charlotte and Beau were still drinking from it when I got the girls as kittens in 2008. And Jeddie picked it up too.

ALL of my cats, except Cami (yet) drink their water exclusively from the glass on the sink. It will never end!

Sheila: I'm *LMAO* because of how we all spoil our cats in different ways.

Then there are Pumbaa and Larry, who refuse to drink out of their own water dish. Nope. They only want to drink out of Beck's huge, dog-slobber-flavored water dish. Makes it easier for me, that's for sure!

Oh Thank God it isn't only my cats that are demented...lol. Not a single one here will drink from their own water dish they all want King's slobber filled one. Well except for Maxwell, he hangs over the side of the tolit to drink on the rare occasions that he actually drinks water.

Mel, in return, does King occasionally "snack" in the litter boxes like Beck does?

Re: 12/3 Cami aPS 86, +4 - 85, +8 - 99, pPS 78 (amPS 78 on 4

Actually no thankfully, however, since he is the only drooler for miles and being raised in a house full of cats he is a little species confused. If we don't get him outside in what he considers a timely manner he will USE the litter box. Which on one hand I can't get mad at him for since, well, that is kind of what they are for, but on the other hand a 97lb drooler can destroy 18lbs of litter in a heartbeat with one good pee..

His other confusion is about toys...while he loves his tennis balls, he is equally as fond of their catnip toys and well catnip in general. I grow catnip in the garden and when I bring it in to dry I have to lock it in the furnace room or King will find it, drag it to the middle of the floor and roll in it just like a Cat!!! Now again I wouldn't mind all that much except he will growl and not let the cats play too. He will also steal their catnip toys and do the same thing.

But at night when we go to bed, most of the time he will growl at any cat that tries to sleep on his bed, except for Lady Jane Grey, there have been many mornings we have woken up to find Lady J stretched out on King's bed and King sleeping on the wood floor. Usually with Arabella curled up on top of him...She likes dog beds as in one's made out of real dog.

Mel, I would rather Beck tried using the litter box as opposed to snacking in the litter box! :)

Pumbaa is also "species confused", as I got him when he was 6 weeks old, and then at about 10 weeks old, Beck (female Border Collie) helped take over raising him. Pumbaa didn't know how to "meow" until several months after I added Larry (civvie feline) to the mix. Pumbaa emulated my speech patterns until then, and still does frequently. Pumbaa still thinks he part dog, part human, and a little bit cat. *LOL*

Sheila, so sorry for hijacking this thread with funny animal stories, but I love hearing this stuff instead of the normal FD problems. :)

Here is my "I only drink water from the glass on the sink" Murphy...

She would not touch the water in the large ceramic water bowl in MY kitchen, but go on vacation and she is happy to drink from the dogs Buddy Bowl...

We had a species confused Border Collie when I was in high school. She got up on the kitchen table all the time because the cats did  My mother was not amused.
