WCR Happy hungry kitty all personal Ps in place. He has turned into a "give me something special on my food" he eats off the top and then wants me to add more. Oh, he's such a picky and fussy guy.
Had to do a report for the state that is due in 5 business days following a death. One of my favorite sweet residents died on the 26th. I had to encompass the last 6 months all tests, treatments, meds & hospitalizations etc on top of grieving into a form for them to review to see if there was neglect. I am not computer savvy as Pat and Marjorie know  So I forgot to post my evening PS etc.
After seeing the jump in his BGs I decided to go ahead and dosecrease this am only from skinny 0.5 to 0.5. Had to get the report to the office early so no time to post until now. Came home to test and he is 60. Yeah. I'll get a test as I run out and gave him 1/2 can of lc hoping to stop a crash. Gotta go.

Hi Kathy,

I guess Powder really is into diving. It's kinda hard when your so busy. So sorry to hear that you lost one of your residents. :-|

Have a nice night.

jan and sara

Kathy...sorry about your resident. That is very sad.

Wow...this is really a drop!! Do you use an automatic feeder? Maybe ask Jill about leaving out a higher carb food for him on days you aren't able to be there although you did say he's finicky. I know he and Gracie are alot alike and we are trying to catch her early on and slow her down some. She's still having some drops but not quite as bad as she did.

Re: 12/2PowderPMPS432

Yes Powder is fascinated with the ocean floor and he loves scuba diving  It is difficult to deal with because he is extremely carb sensitive and is quite involved with his other hobby of bungee jumping which he seems to indulge in daily.
Because Powder is still underweight (you can still feel his bones easily) I can' t restrict his food intake. He has wet food down always and DD gives him more when she comes home even if he didn't finish what was in his bowl. I wish I knew of a way to get him to gain weight so I could try to manipulate him more to surf. It is counterproductive to weight gain to have those high BGs so its hard to know what to do unless I start using regular to bring him down when he is high on a daily basis. He was on regular insulin when diagnosed and didn't have a problem. So its just an option if this stays for much longer:roll:
Once again your comments are helpful in challenging my thinking and I'm grateful for your input. I may not get to respond to everyone but I do not take your support for granted :YMHUG:

Kathy...I wish I had some kind of answer for you but I sure don't. I have no idea how to fatten him up unless you give him foods like Evo or Wellness with higher fat content (and the low carb ones). I don't know if that is ok or will work...I'm sure there are experts in this area who can certainly provide you with a better answer.

sorry for asking as perhaps this has been asked before....does Powder have any other medical issues? i'm not saying at all that Powder has CRF or anything bad like that....but what prompted me to take Rocket to the vet was his weight loss...then bloodwork revealed CRF (dx was May08)....just wondering if perhaps there is more to Powder's weight loss than just food intake....just thinking outloud....not sure if i'm being helpful....
