Stressed out momma bean over here this morning having to leave her sugarcat alone all day. Tink hasn't exactly played by the rules in the Shoot Low to Stay Low game... so it makes me REALLY nervous leaving for the day after a low AMPS, even with +2 being a little higher as it should be. I put an extra meal in the feeder at +5, which is when he seems to nadir (at least when he starts in blue).

I seriously need to find some science geek to create my idea of a BG monitoring microchip! Send the data in real time to my phone... I would never have to stress out again! Wouldn't that be NICE?!?!

Anyhoo... fingers and paws crossed for a safe surf today. Loving these numbers. Even seeing green, he's only bouncing into yellow and low pink... so we MIGHT just be on to something finally!!!
 
Go Tink! :cool: He's looking great on this dose.

Google is working on a contact lens for real time updates of blood glucose. Not sure it'll be ready for cats anytime soon though.
 
I'm curious about his pmps now . . . and is he telling what he did while you went to work today?! ;-) He does look awfully good at this dose - but you sure are staying up all night. yikes. I know you don't mind, but . . .

There is also a tattoo in the works that is supposed to be scannable so you don't have to poke. I read about that quite a while ago and I don't remember now if it was for people or cats. I'm thinking people . . . but wouldn't that be fantastic if it came out for cats? I want to say it was being worked on at one of the eastern US universities, maybe MIT.

There is another system for monitoring blood glucose but it is not for everyone. On one hand, it allows for continuous monitoring of the pet's blood glucose but on the other hand it involves permanent implantation of a sensor under the skin. Glucoses can be monitored at home without the stress of transport to the veterinarian's office or the stress of needle sticks. The Medtronic's Guardian RT is probably the unit to use. A glucose is displayed every 5 minutes on a monitor connected wirelessly to the sensor implanted under the skin as long as the two devices are within 6 feet of each other. (The monitor can be attached to the pet's collar.) Results can also be downloaded into a software program to generate a printable glucose curve. The external portion of the sensor is a couple of inches in diameter and the pet must be able to tolerate it without attempting to remove it. The device is typically worn on the pet's back or between the shoulders. This unit costs over $1,000, though; substantially more than a conventional glucose meter.

Wow... that's all super promising! Granted... Tink removed his feeding tube (while still very sick and lethargic)... so I'm guessing the "the pet must be able to tolerate it without attempting to remove it" part might be a stretch. Well, that and the $1000 price tag. :/
 
His PMPS was 202!! So that was probably the highest he got all day! Not AS nice last night... but still way better than we've been seeing. Higher yet this morning... so I'm hoping for good things tonight or we might need to up it tomorrow. I have the 1st off, but do work Friday. I can always run home if needed though, so I would be ok with an increase Wed night if it starts looking necessary.
