Good morning LL! It's been several days since my last condo: http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=32657
Star and I are having some issues with ear prick times.
Here's a summary of where we are:
Star Cat has been on Lantus for 45 days.
When she started her numbers were in red and black.
She hasn't seen a black number in 44 days and only twice has a red popped up!
With that being said, I have no real reason to complain, but I am feeling like her progress is stalling.
She has been very cranky at ear prick times lately, drawing my blood twice - once at scratching me, and once at biting me.
Previously, she has slept or purred through ear pricks. Keeping in mind, before we found LL, a container of test strips would last a few weeks, now I'm going through 4 times more strips...she's not too happy about this.
I am working on extra treats, more hugs and love during the ear pricks. I'm trying to give her a break and do only critical times so as not to stress her beyond her limits. I find that if I test her while sleeping, she does much better.
Additionally, I'm struggling with her bouncing each time she sees green, which is coming less frequently.
On a good note, aside from these mentioned things, she is happy and playing more than ever in recent history. Santa brought her a cat nip filled toy and she has been playing with this frequently. I haven't seen her play in years before starting Lantus. For that I am so grateful. I am also very pleased that she moved to wet food so easily, and that she hasn't had dry food in more than a month!
She had a nice green amps this morning, but I have to leave for several hours, so I gave her .25 today instead of .50. I feel that she went low last night to have started with a 91 this morning. I am expecting a bounce.
Hope everyone had a great holiday. I'm looking forward to 2011!
