Morning all!
hope you are having a good day so far.....i'm a little late starting the condo....i'm quite honestly upset.....

WCR: he hid under the bed for most of the night last night after his pm shot....i figure since he got his Calcitriol and the other meds it's a lot and tested him not as often....here were his numbers
pmps 88
+2 85
+3.25 81
+4.5 83here is where the weirdest thing happened....let me explain below
+6.5 99

each test i had to grab him from under the bed...at +4.5 testing i did the usual...he was shaking and it was weird as it was not a seizure...seizures don't last this long...so i sort of held him thinking he was cold (as in the past doing so and wrapping him with a blanket sort of helps a few minutes later) but this time he sort of seemed lost....dazed out....and then he meowed as though in pain then he hizzed at me....(good thing i had tested him to see his BG was ok)....so i gave him some catnip to play with thinking that in itself would sort of stop him from charging me as he really had the look...it was strange...he licked his toy with the catnip like there was no tomorrow....after a few minutes (and he was still shaking) he got up as though he was drunk...i figured it was the catnip...and went back to being under the bed.....i managed to feed him before hand and then i stayed in the room for the next test at +6.5 which i had to grab him from under the bed.....

he slept the rest of the night under the bed....i kept on checking up on him...so needless to say i have had a rough sleep...at +10 i got up to put some food under the bed only for him to come out (i guess he didn't want food there) and he followed me to where his dish is always....i fed him and i went back to bed only briefly talking to him...he stayed the rest of the wee hrs in the dining room on his bed until amps....

yesterday viewtopic.php?f=9&t=33009

i'm starting to think his arthritis is worse each day....and i'm not sure if me grabbing him by the tail/hind legs each and every time i gotta fetch him...if that's unpleasant for him.... :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH:

so far today
amps 110...fed
+2 103....fed but he went under the bed shortly after....i just let him be....
+3.25...no testing....fluids and chicken dust....
+3.75....he is outside on the balcony so have not tested either.....will try to do a +4 or +4.5 :YMSIGH:

is anyone giving Adequan to their kitties currently for arthritis? i just would like to avoid at all costs more meds for Rocket....i'm still contemplating the idea....and not sure how well that med works....

sorry if i don't get to visit condos today...i will try my very best....

Re: 12/28 Rocket AMPS 110 +2 103

Is the shivering a sign of anything else? Do you think he has a fever/infection?

Is there any way you can block under the bed from him? Boxes/Make a cardboard bed skirt - anything like that?

Maverick doesn't like his hind end touched what so ever. Not even to be petted. I know it must be painful for him. We haven't done anything else for him. If I could inject him at home we would go with that treatment.

Sending hugs for you and Rocket.

Re: 12/28 Rocket AMPS 110 +2 103

((((Claudia)))) I'm so sorry for that scary night. Have you called the vet? That behavior doesn't sound right to me. I give Blackie Dasuquin, Adequan injections and Gabapentin for his arthritis. I don't know for sure, but I think we get the best results from the Gabapentin. It is another med, but you can give it in food or get it compounded in a liquid.

I am glad that Rocket seemed better this morning. I hope you don't see that weird behavior again.

I want to thank you for helping me and Blackie so much lately. You have taken a lot of time out of your own busy schedule caring for Rocket to send us lots of information and support. I don't know what I would have done without you. :YMHUG: FYI - I'm going to stick with the Mirt for now and see how it goes. Blackie is eating a little better this morning. I will be talkng to the vet again tomorrow.

I'm sending healing vines and prayers for Rocket. I hope he's much better today.

:YMHUG: (((Claudia))) (((Rocket)))
Bless both your hearts, I agree a Vet visit should happen ASAP.. my thoughts are with you both.. I hope Rocket is ok..
Good start on his BG #s today.. keep us informed please.

CRF cats get cold quite easily though his CRF numbers are not bad it is common....the shivering has happened when he's been outside (not for long)...but it disappears right quickly after a few minutes of me holding him giving him warmth....

hence why i have for him 2 heated beds and lots of his blankets everywhere....

i brought him inside though sunny it is still winter and though it is nice outside i let him out just to get fresh air....he was brought inside at +4 then fed him at +4.25

now at +5 75.6....he's been sleeping on his bed by the window in our bedroom ever since i brought him inside....no hiding....mom said she saw him shivering a few days ago but as soon as she wrapped him up he stopped....i have mentioned it to the vet in the past and she says it's common CRF cats get easily cold....this winter is more noticeable than last winter.....it could be the arthritis too....

i will ask the vet for different options with the arthritis....

for now i don't want to block the bed as it is his hiding spot since my folks are still here until next Tuesday and i don't want him not to have a "safe" place to go to...if that makes sense....

i'm heading out shortly after his +6 will try to get another test in....should be back by his +9

probably the stress of having other people around too...hard to say....he knows my folks but he is also dealing with more issues too....who knows...i don't know...

Ele, i'm here to help in every which way possible....no worries

thank you Karrie and Nicole...i will keep a close eye on him....

My thoughts are with you two.. :YMHUG: Hope Rocket feels/is better soon.. Take care of yourself also...

Hope Our Rocket Man feels better ASAP!! I would at least call the vet & advise him of this..Please call !
We have a platform bed which has like a tunnel uner the whole length of it--Moonie & Copper used to go in it & we could not get them out of there!!
We had to close it up when Moonie got FD as we could not get to her--It would be wise of you to close up that area & give her a different place to hide that you have access to--Also,touching a cat's hips, especially when they are arthritic, is not advisable--Moonie goes nuts when I do that especially her legs as she has arthritis & neuropathy...So I have had to pick Moonie up by her scruff & hold her legs from underneath..It doesnt hurt them.
Sending Healing Vines & Feel Good wishes to Dear Rocket Man & Claudia--We Hugs you!!

Claudia...very long shot suggestion here but since do you think there is any chance his potassium could have dropped since his last blood test? Low potassium can cause wobbly legs. I don't know if you are giving him a potassium supplement (sorry...I should have checked his profile) and his last blood test had really great potassium levels. Like I said....really long shot but just a thought about what else can cause wobbly legs. My Gussie has horrible arthritis in his hocks (all four legs) and his back but he doesn't ever wobble...he limps, but doesn't wobble. ECID....anyway...like I said, a very long shot. I know it's hard to block them out of places they like but maybe Karrie's idea is worth trying esp if you can give him a substitute place where you can get to him easily. I don't get the shivering unless he is just cold because of the CRF.

I send healing vines...poor Rocket but you are an awesome mamabean!! I hope you get some rest today....like I told Ele, dealing with CRF alone is a challenge and those of you dealing with CRF AND FD have my greatest admiration.

Claudia, I don't have any advice but I am going to send out lots of healing thoughts to you and Rocket. I'm sorry you haven't been getting lots of rest but hopefully tonight will be better. My civvie loves to hide under the bed and when I need to get her out, she does not want to budge. Rocket, please listen to your mamabean and come out from under that bed. She just wants to help you!
