Day 7

Another beautiful green start to the day! It amazes me that Rhubarb's sugar is even lower off insulin than on it. (I would have lost my mind seeing these numberd on insulin!)
It's the last day before traveling- I extended it a day. Just didnt get enough visiting in.

I picked up some Boreal food here, and had emailed the company to find out where else I can get it. Turns out I won't have to leave town. awesome.

Hugs and vines for those who are hurting right now

Go Rhubarb Go! Happy Day 8!

With these numbers being her normal on my meter, if she ever needs insulin again, does that mean my "panic level" can be a little lower than the take action number?

I'd stick with the 50 as your action number but you know if you get a 50 or slightly below, it's not a five alarm panic. While the FS meter does read low at low range there is still meter variance and you never know when the meter could be reading on the high rather than low side of that variance so I don't think it's prudent to set a lower "panic" number. You could alter your response slightly and not go for the HC quite so quickly if faced with a low reading but it's always better to err on the side of caution. We usually don't have a baseline BG from before the diabetes Dx and there is a medically established range for "normal". While some cats might normally run in the 40s and 50s, others may normally run in the 60s and 70s etc. and I would assume each cat's normal could change over time just as it does when they are not well. The action numbers used here have been proven to provide safety so while perhaps your level of internal panic can be a bit tempered, I certainly wouldn't hold off taking some action at a reading of 50.
