down to 65 again.

67 @3 gave food
43 @3.5 gave spoonful of pouch NF + honey
70 @3.75
83 @4
88 @4.25
79 @4.5
65 @4.75

Do I wait a bit more, another 15, and see if I feed? We've seen that a spoonful of NF gravy and honey brings him up quite nicely. I think I can wait another 15.

ETA I've made a sheet in Q's SS to visualise how fast things are going

flattening. fed him more honey and more gravy and food -- absolutely need to buy myself a 30-minute window to go to the pharmacy before it closes. Will test in 10 to make sure he's on his way up. (he's eating happily and licking all the sweet gravy up)

Carbed him up well before running off to the pharmacy. 20 minutes there and back with my antibiotics (and that included having to find my misplaced car keys). Pharmacy is in the same building as the vet btw :-)

Will test him on the hour and wouldn't be surprised to find him nice'n high from all the honey.

Ladies and Gentlemen (well, mainly ladies and kitties), we are now up to 173, all carbed up.

Based on the previous experiment with honey earlier on, I expect at least a good hour of peace and quiet. I will retest in 30 minutes for safety's sake, but we might be even higher by then.

I don't give dosing advice.

However … given the difficulty you'd had over the last few days, I wonder if it would be better to start shooting a much lower dose on 12-hour cycles and go up by 0.25 increments if necessary. Decreasing his carbs has been sending Quintus rushing down the dosing scale, and multiple NS and 18-hour cycles are messing up the Lantus depot.

It is far easier to go up the dosing scale than it is to go down the scale like an avalanche.

Just my thoughts. I'm hoping those with more experience will look at the spreadsheet and comment.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Do a kind of "start over" tomorrow morning, probably with 0.5 (I'm afraid 1 might still be too high).

My suspicion is that his pancreas is healing, and that even if 1ui works tomorrow, it may not in 3 days.

+7.5 386!

I think I maybe overdid it with the carbs before heading off to the pharmacy...

That would be my guess! I’ve done that before too when I had to be away :joyful: Better that you feel safe to leave and the numbers are high for a few hours than the inverse. If you kept track of how much honey, you now know you don’t need that much for the next time at least. ;)

I'm glad I did the initial little test with one small measure of honey, and waited to see how much time until he came down. Before going to the pharmacy I gave him at least 3 or 4 times that. And the ragout with gravy. I do hope he comes down a bit, I was sad to see red.
