Increased Mias dose to 0.25u this morning according to caliper measuring suggestion received earlier.

Will try to feed her bigger portions and more often during the first couple of hours to avoid her dropping to fast

@Wendy&Neko what would optimal drops be? As in, what is considered too big of a drop that can end up causing bounces? During her am cycle today she had dropped around 100 between each test, from amps to +2 and then +4

Today's feeding schedule has looked like this, all with 3.3% carbs:

With am shot - 50 grams
+2 - 25 grams
+3 - 25 grams
+5 - 20 grams
+6 - 20 grams

Will not feed again now until pm shot

Replying here from yesterday’s thread.

"If for 0.1u you’re setting the calipers to 1.35mm, then doubling that caliper mark would be 0.2u, would it not? (I’ve not used calipers before but assume this should work). I believe this would be the math:

0.1u —> 1.35mm caliper mark
0.2u —> 2.7mm
0.25u —> 3.375
0.5u —> 6.75mm

The 0.25 dose should appear visually to be half way between the zero line and the 0.5 line on the syringe."

I actually reevaluated that logic after you said the theoretical caliper measurement we came up with for 0.25u looked like way too much insulin. In reality, there’s space beneath the zero line on most syringes, so I suspect doubling the caliper measurement for 0.1u to get to 0.2u is not the best method. It’s probably going to be more accurate to look at the caliper measurement for 1u on the syringe, then do the math downward from there. For example, if 1u of insulin measures 9mm on the calipers, then 0.5u would be 4.5mm, and so on. At least it’s a start and you can see how close it comes to aligning with the lines on your syringes. The important thing is consistency, so once you have a tentative dosing chart for the calipers, you know you’re giving the same dose each time even if the syringe markings vary. So if you would post the caliper measurement for 1u, we can go back to the drawing board and do some more math.

The amount of drop that causes a bounce can differ by cat. 50 per hour may or may not be enough to cause a bounce. On the 22nd during the day, she dropped 135 points in two hours, and that was enough to cause a bounce.

You said yesterday that you were limited in the amount of low carb food you could find. Has anyone given you the link to the UK Cat Food List. Many of them are available in Europe and on line.
