I don't even know where to begin because I'm still a little shaken from yesterday. Jenks was cruising along having another great day. He had an early dip just under 50, but he recovered nicely after some food. He was in the low 100s at midcycle, which was a little unusual but also nothing to worry about.

However, when I looked at the meter for PMPS, I nearly passed out. So shocked was I that I did a second test to confirm that the strip wasn't bad. It was 270. I don't know where it came from or why it was happening, but I spent the rest of the night worried to death that the lights just got turned out on the post-vacation cycle bliss. It didn't help my nerves at all that he was still 252 at the overnight feeding. I didn't even want to post about it in case there was any chance that doing so would jinx the whole thing.

A second shock came at this morning's AMPS. I expected it to still be ugly. What I did not expect to see was a low 50, which again required a second test to confirm. Yep, Jenks plummeted 200 points in the final five hours of the night cycle. Why? Who knows.

My worries kicked in again because I know how bad it gets for us when he starts a pattern of big drops followed by big rebounds. So the third shock of the day came when I saw his AM cycle performance. He got right back on track as if nothing happened, and in fact decided to head out to the sharks on OH's watch. What?!?

He came up from that 41 with some regular food and steadily rose through the remainder of the cycle. The fact that he's only 105 at PMPS after all of that action is astonishing to me, and I've got everything I can cross crossed in hopes that this was just a weird anomaly and that we'll continue on with these great numbers.

We're walking on eggshells over here. I think everyone realizes just how precarious these post-vacation cycles are, so we are prone to freaking out (possibly irrationally so) at anything that threatens to disturb them.

I have no idea what the PM cycle holds tonight, so I guess I'll try and breathe it out until the next test.

This message is brought to you by the letter F, for frazzled.

Must be some weird lunar cycles happening, I'm seeing lots of odd BGs and neon greens on many SSs, Asia's included. I'm glad Jenks got back to business and I'm sorry you're waiting for the other shoe to drop. Hope Jenks got the memo and doesn't need to play games and he's going to stick with the program. :bighug:

Jenks may be exercising his right to be a :cat:.

I'm not sure where you live, but could extreme cold weather have affected your meter or strips? Rusty's numbers are whacky, too, and even whackier in this frigid weather.

Happy New Year!
