Good morning LL,

So far, so good! Bailey's numbers are still great even though I feel like I am giving no insulin at all :lol: :lol: 0.1 units is like a pretend shot. DH nonchalantly told me she was at 61 when he tested this morning (while I slept), he is so relaxed about the whole thing :roll: unlike myself. So a little bit of shed drainage going on there. It will be interesting to see what she does today.

I hope everyone is having a great day, we have sunshine again today and temps in the 50s!! :cool: :cool:

Whoa! That drop makes me nervous, we don't need another # below 50 just yet. So I am going to feed her some extra LC and have DH check her in 2 hours I guess. confused_cat

Anne, Bailey does seem to be on a mission, doesn't she?!

Just remember she still has some of her old dose in the shed...Great Job!

BTW--A human diabetic & a feline diabetic are quite different! My diabetic DA always is lecturing me about her diabetes too like Moonie is like her...OH Well they are just trying to help!

Well... she dropped below 50. I think this is probably shed action? at least partially.

Should I stick with 0.1 units for now?

Wow....Bailey is rocking it. Hmmmm...on the shed action. With that small of a dose, I'm not sure if it is or not. There are a couple ways to look at it and I hope others will be along to also give you some thoughts.

1. Try a drop and see how she does. I have never been so lucky to have to figure out how to do a drop but others have and several do a drop before taking them on a trial OR if you think she isn't ready yet
or you're not ready....door #2 is below

2. while Bailey is a newly diagnosed FD, there are others (newly diagnosed who fail reductions) who use 3 numbers below 50 before they reduce. Of course...that takes lots of watching if you are going to do that since that isn't how you've been doing her reductions and she's had no problem holding them. Or if you didn't want to do three, you could let her do one more and then reduce to a drop.

Just some ideas and I'd love to see others....it's always a learning experience.

Even with a small dose, it could be shed action. I'd like to see how Bailey's numbers look after a couple of cycles at this dose. Can you monitor closely like Marje suggested?

Marje, a drop of insulin is something to consider. I already feel like I'm giving her nothing at all, but it seems to be doing something still, so I might want to try a drop before we do a trial.

Sienne, yes I can monitor her tonight. My DH is on vacation this week, so he can monitor while I am at work... he needs to be reminded constantly but he will do it. :lol:

I tend to agree, we just started this dose and I don't think she's ready for a trial yet. I can't believe we're even talking about it actually :mrgreen: :mrgreen: I will plan on sticking with 0.1 units tonight, depending on our PMPS.

i agree with sienne. try to hold onto the 0.1u dose if you can. it's very possible what you're seeing is a little leftover shed action...
 
Bailey was waiting for me in the testing spot when I got home from work tonight :-D cat_pet_icon She is up nicely to 96 at PMPS so I went with 0.1 units, and I will be up to get my usual +2.

Liz, it is bizarre how suddenly 0.1 is a big dose - kinda came out of nowhere! She has never been a high-dose kitty but this is just crazy :lol:
