He seemed OK ... not super hungry ... no vomit in evidence ... ate some for me.

He got a higher carb mix last night - put in more of the Purina Pro Plan. I expected him to be in the 300s this morning.

Obviously, did not give insulin.

I'll check him on my lunch break.

Wow!! That is not a number that I would have expect with Spitzer either!! But a nice surprise, which also makes me wonder now that perhaps the Pro-Plan although higher in carbs is actually working better for him...I know it goes against logic, but since you started giving him a higher ratio of pro-plan to his other food, he is getting better numbers.

Maxwell, although still OTJ, does better on slightly higher carbs as well, he just plain feels better on about 7-8% carbs and when I spot check him usually is lower than when he is eating less carbs. When I had him on 2-3% carbs like Musette he was giving me numbers in the 80s & 90s, put him back on Friskies at 7-8% carbs and he gives me numbers in the 50s & 60s. He also runs and plays more on the higher carb foods as opposed to wanting to sleep more when on lower carbs.

Because of that I have often wonder if for some cats if there is a point where we can take them too low on carbs, thus making their bodies start dumping stored sugars to compensate for what they aren't getting in their food.

332 - 045 = 287 in 3.25 hours; rising about 90 points an hour

Gave 0.5 units; starting over to see if the Pro Plan works better for him.

I have found that Shakes sometimes does better on higher carb foods..?...

interesting am for Spitzer
Hopefully the new food will help!
