Good Morning Everyone,

That must have been quite an OTJ party for Mowgli last night. Kitchen Krew Journeyman Rusty brought home some of Chef Mannie's delicious food and finished it just as the alarm rang this morning. So the 130 this morning probably has some food behind it (actually, I think this must happen almost every morning, judging from Rusty's spreadsheet; but he has always free fed, and Edward and I need our sleep . . .). Good test this morning (blood on the first try), good shot, good game with the new green cube and Big Bug. 4 Ps so far. Very cold and clear here this morning (-3 degrees F.) and Rusty is keeping close to the radiator.
We are planning to go to the X-country ski area this afternoon. The snow is good and later in the week it is supposed to thaw and maybe even rain on New Year's Day (ugh!), so we want to get out now.

I got an e mail from Walmart yesterday telling me that the test strips for the ReliOn Ultima meter that are on the recall list can simply be returned to Walmart for a refund. This is great news and will involve much less fuss than I had anticipated. It is even better news for us, because I had switched to the ReliOn Micro for Rusty because it requires less blood than the Ultima. So I have 5 boxes of strips for the Ultima and they can now be returned for a refund, rather than for a replacement! I'll buy 1 box for the Ultima, which is now my back-up meter, and use the rest of the refund to buy more strips for the Micro. What a nice Xmas present!

Everyone have a good day today and we are continuing to send healing vines to the kitties who are not feeling well.

Good morning everyone! nice report this morning, and way to go Rusty! It's OK on the number Rusty and the food - I think Chef Mannie must have done the same thing, judging from his pink start this morning.

Very nice on the test strips - wow - something that works in favor of the consumer. great news!!!

Ahhhh - you are off to XCountry ski today. That is so cool... I'd love to try something like that, but dang - what a drive to get there, etc... enjoy! It sounds wonderful. We have rain - again, and no surprise there.

Journeyman Rusty - YO DUDE! We kicked some serious booty in the kitchen last night. WOW!! And hey man - I owe you for driving part of the way too. I was able to carb up, and my bean didn't yank me home. phew! See you later maybe? ~~ Chef Mannie -- psssstttt - you and songstress Moonie sang really nicely. LUBS It alot!

Its so nice to hear that Rusty is doing so well. :-D And you had a good test/shot experience this morning too! That -3 sounds terrible. I hope you all stay warm today, but have fun X-country skiing!

ps Thanks for your support with Blackie. It really means a lot to me.

Re: 12/28/10 Rusty AMPS 130

Not a bad preshot at all, especially if there was food involved. Say what lancets are you using? I was trying some that were recommended and less expensive and i just finished them and am back w/ the BD. What a difference, i seldom have to do a second prick, but frequently had to with the others. I think that they are sharper and I get a good drop even with the 30 gauge. Tess doesn't even notice with these. So worth the extra price.

Now for the important questions. Classic or skate? Wax or waxless? And where did you find a green cube?

Re: 12/28/10 Rusty AMPS 130, +5 99

Answers for Tess:
I use the Kinney's store brand "thin" lancets. I had some BDs. but they didn't work in my lancet device. I tried to get the BD lancet device, but can't find one anywhere.

Important questions: classic; waxless (+ Maxiglide); I got the green "Pet Sport" cube in Kinney's Drugs. They also had purple and red. It is a "single" cube, not the pair. The nylon is different: more matte (not as shiny). But the brand is the same, as far as I can tell (Chinese, of course)

Re: 12/28/10 Rusty AMPS 130, +5 99

Rusty is looking good today. Good info about the BD...I've been using Relion 30g but maybe I'll switch since Ann likes the BDs. Glad you are able to have fun in all that extra snow!!

Have a good time with the x country skiing!!! Used to do that in AK...what fun except the hills (ugh) and trying to herringbone up them when I was learning.

Re: 12/28/10 Rusty AMPS 130, +5 99

Hi Ella! Hi Rusty! Looks like the boy is doing really well! He must really be enjoying his new home with you and Edward :)

Hope you enjoy your x-country skiing today!

Re: 12/28/10 Rusty AMPS 130, +5 99

this is what we've experienced in the last week...and will likely be of no help to anyone...

i had to buy 33 gauge lancets instead of the 30 gauge...and they're working BETTER on binks ears

trust binks to dare to be different.

hope you had fun XC skiing!

  ..."STRIP EXCHANGE"...

yes, could we get Chippendale's instead of the low rent Hunkmania??

Re: 12/28/10 Rusty AMPS 130, +5 99

Hi Ella, good news on the strip refund/exchange.
Thank goodness, it's gonna be a little warmer by weekend. Yay, gonna get outa the house! :-D
Very nice numbers for Rusty, again.

Hehehe@ Celi.

Re: 12/28/10 Rusty AMPS 130, +5 99, PMPS 78

Back again after a couple of hours of good x-country skiing. Lots of tourists there (this is the holiday week), but the trails were fine.

Rusty was raring to go when we got home in the late afternoon and we spent about an hour playing with a string and his cube. He has amazing concentration and patience. I think he would be a good hunter. PMPS is good. I think he's over the disruption of our trip and is rested up. He ate a good Wellness turkey dinner and at the moment is sleeping on his perch (and dreaming musically).

So I got the BD lancets (30 gauge, not 33!!) and an Accu-Chek Soft Touch lancet device (which apparently will work with the BDs) and tomorrow will try it/them out. Anything to lessen the stress of the ear pokes for our Big Furry Guy. I'll try them on myself first for comparison (or maybe on Edward).

Off now to visit some condos. Everyone have a fine evening,

Ella & Rusty

Nice PMPS! :thumbup I hope you like the lancets, I don't use the device I do it freehand. I don't know that I have even seen the 33 gauge ones.

sounds like a great day our on the trails. We tried XC a couple of time after we moved here, but you have to go over 700ft. to get any snow. it's a lot of work for that altitude when you are used to sea level.

Re: 12/28/10 Rusty AMPS 130, +5 99, PMPS 78

When you're ready, what would you thing about fattening Rusty's dose? I think there's room to bring the overall level down.

Re: 12/28/10 Rusty AMPS 130, +5 99, PMPS 78

nice on the x-country skiing - sounds wonderful. :-D

Good luck with the new lancets - uh - look out Edward! I hope it is better for Rusty. I too do this free hand. You'll have to let us know if you like the 30 gauge better. I have 33, always have.

One of these days you will have to record Rusty's singing...

Have a good night guys!
