Ugh. Rough night. Finally got to sleep and then overslept a bit. Taffy ate a bit early AM and made a poopy. Ate a little bit at breakfast, too, but not enough. Goal today is find something he wants to eat, and decide if I should treat as if Panc flare-up (Cerenia, etc.) He looked to be resting comfortably earlier, but now looks a little lousy.

I hope everybody is having a great day & all of the kits behave!

AMPS = 138
+2 = 118

Considering he came right back to green after a skip I think he'll be looking for a reducie. Not to harp on you but with him being MaineCoone and and "off" appy I'd still get him checked for HCM/ CHF when possible.

I know...part of me does not want to know. He has always had his heart listened to carefully and extensively by different vets, and xrays, but no scan/MRI.

Lots of things can cause an off appy. Have the vets ever commented about a heart murmur? Both my kitties that had some MC heritage and HCM had a heart murmur first. Then we had echocardiograms which diagnosed the HCM.

Sending mega vines for Taffy to feel better and like eating again soon.

So, then how does HCM generally get treated? Diuretics and BP meds? Nothing can reverse the enlarging of the heart chamber, right?

The treatment for HCM depends on the severity and kind. Neko's early HCM had no treatment, but we monitored for changes in heart murmur. She was on ACE inhibitors, but for her concurrent proteinuria (kidney disease). Diuretics came much later. And she never had high blood pressure, but it is worth getting that tested.

Some vets have thought that MAYBE they heard a murmur, some not. Some could not say if it was murmur or due to stress of vet visit. Taffy is not a good car/vet dude. He is docile and sweet and an excellent patient, but super stressed.
He ate better tonight. :cat:

You might call around and see if you can find a mobile vet that will come to your home and do your vet visits...they are becoming a lot more popular
They had those around here when I was a kid! I wish I could find one, but even then, I think that we would have to travel to get big diagnostics like ECG or MRI, etc. I have been thinking about it and I think I may compromise and take Taffy to the very local vet that I took Civ brother Baby Kitty to, to get bloodwork and general checks, and referral to cardiology specialist.
