Muffin's Last Condo

Happy Holidays LL! Hope everyone's Christmas was wonderful. Although I haven't visited the condo yet, I am so sorry to hear of Smokey's passing. Sending tons of comfort to Melanie.

Well, we are back again, it seems. Everyone get out the wet noodles for me! Between Kibby's illness and the holiday hustle and bustle, I have not been testing Muffin, nor giving her the Denamarin. With so much going on, and the kids' cooking and not putting up all the food, Muffin has been getting into quite a bit of contraband over the last month. She's had lasagna, pizza, chicken nuggets, fish sticks... ohmygod_smile I finally tested her this morning about an hour after breffis, and got 404! It was a small drop of blood, so I retested, hoping it was an error, but got 414 the second time! So I shot a drop of insulin, gave her denamarin, and I have a call into the vet to see if he wants to see her for bloodwork or anything. She hasn't been acting off at all, at least not that I've noticed. However, when Kibby got sick, and moved into my bedroom, she moved out, so I don't see her as much as I used to. I should have been testing her even more for that reason alone, but I just assumed she was fine.

Not sure if finding out whether or not she's having a CP flare really makes any difference, since I've already started the treatment, but it may be worth it just to make sure it's not something else.

Thought about for a few minutes, and after everything I've just been thru with Kibby, I think it's well worth finding out what's going on. So she has an appt at 1150 for BW.

Anne I'm so sorry to see Muffin back here again. I hope it is just holiday contraband and cleared out of her system soon.

:roll: Maybe if you made the kids stay up all night to test a kitty that's back on the juice, they'd get the idea and start being careful about leaving food out!

I second Ann's thinking with regards to keeping the kids up all night. At least they'll learn what YOU go through with a diabetic kitty, and perhaps may learn from their mistake. :lol:

Hoping taht Muffin will be back to normal for you in no time, and am sending tons of positive thoughts for a great bloodwork test. I hope that nothing is amiss, and it's just the contraband. Looking forward to an update later today.

Well drat! You've certainly had a lot to deal with lately, and you were sick too. So don't be too hard on yourself. How is Kibby anyway? Paws crossed for Muffin to get right back to the falls.

Hi Anne & Muffin too - sorry to hear Muffin's BG is calling for juice again -I hope it is something she ate, or a dental or anything that can be easily treated & juice free again. Give her a hug from us & take care of you too. Good idea on getting her into the vet this afternoon. Will check back for any update.

Well bummer. Muffin...this is no way to get a third OTJ party; I know you love them and Chef Mannie's incredible menus but really....

+2 430! A drop is probably not enough, but I wanted to start low and increase as needed instead of what I did last time, which was never get any sleep. :lol:

Angela: I'm thinking this is way too high to be due to contraband alone. She hasn't thrown a red since her original dx. But she still seems to be feeling fine, so I guess that's the important part.

Liz: Kibby is doing wonderfully, thank you for asking. His RBC is well back into the normal range at 38%. I'm still waiting for the mycoplasma results - should get those today or tomorrow. As far as his incision goes, it's healing up nicely, and his fur is beginning to grow back. Dr said he does have about a nickel-sized empty pocket somewhere inside, which he hopes will just develop scar tissue. If not, it could someday present a problem. Sometimes intestines get caught up in them and then he would have to do the major abdominal surgery to repair it, but he said the pocket is up pretty high, near his ribs, so chances are slim that anything like that will happen. I'm just to watch for the usual symptoms of illness, and also any swelling in that area. So Kibby's in for some extra petting! :lol:

Nicole - I will definitely give her a hug from you, and I hope it's nothing major too.

Marje - I deserve the wet noodles! :lol: It IS apparent Muffin had a great Christmas! Kibby is doing great - I gave him an hour outside for one of his Christmas gifts! :lol: Maybe you're right on Muffin wanting another party - who could blame her?

+4 341. That was a half hour after we got home from the vet. Doc took blood and urine, and we're running a senior panel (which includes the urinalysis) and specfPL. Her weight is good (10lbs 13.5 oz) normal temperature, eyes, ears, and teeth look good. He suspects another CP flare, as do I, but for now we await results. I'll go ahead and put her on bupe just in case, since the specfPL results take a couple of days to come back.

I hope it's nothing serious with Muffin. I'm glad Kibby is doing so well.

+6 309. Thank you Sienne, for the reminder. I think for a first dose, this is a fairly decent response, so I have no plans to increase right away. I'll give it a couple days to settle and see where she is then.

HI Anne, I hope Muffin is just having Holiday Hangover and gets right back to The Falls! i hope the bupe makes her feel ok until you get the results back. it Is soooo very good to hear that Kibby is doing well and is getting extra petting :-D

Pmps 409. Going to have to work her shot time back to a decent hour, so I'll be moving 1/2 hr in the mornings til I get somewhere tolerable. :lol: This is way too late to be shooting!
 
Hi Anne & Muffin, belated holiday wishes! Nice to see you and Muffin but sorry if Muffin fell off the Falls wagon! :sad: I hope it's just a blip and she will be back to the Falls soon.
 
Hi Anne, belated holiday greetings here too. I am sorry to see Muffin back here, and hope it was just all that good eating. We will hope her stay here is a short one. Right Muffin?

It is so good to read that Kibby is doing well. Awesome!
