I know you guys say not to over analyze individual numbers and preshot numbers don't mean as much as nadir numbers. Not sure where this number came from though after two days of blues. Maybe its using a syringe without half unit markings. I'm going to go out today and buy a box of BD syringes. They are $40 up here. Shame I just spent 25$ for the 100 syringes at the vets. I wish I had double checked that they had half unit markings. I don't want to go back there - its the bad place for me lol.

I'm home all day to watch him and have lots of strips. I bet it was just an off reading or something to do with the eyeballing the dose on the syringes.

Bummer on the syringes - but oh yes on the niceness of having half unit markings! Good luck - hope you are able to find some today.

Is this considered a bounce? I don't think Maverick has gone from greens to blues mid day since mid-november.

I was away so DH got the +4 reading. I got home to do the +6. So we are trying to do a curve today. Its been so crazy I've gotten away from testing. It was Jill I believe who said not to drop his dose as he wasn't eating well and his insulin requirements could change once he was eating more (and syringe fed if needed). He went a week with a reduced appetite. Today he's only eaten an ounce and a half. I plan on syringe feeding him at +9 today if he hasn't eating more on his own.

I have been eyeballing the dose on the new syringes (.3cc without half unit markings). I just got in with BD syringes with 1/2unit markings. And the timing of his shots have been off - 3 hours late on xmas day, then one hour late the day after PM shot.

I'm overanalyzing. Especially because I don't have any recent curve numbers.

HI Karrie, I don't think it's a bounce yet. It's just a somewhat higher number. Wait and see what happens during the rest of the cycle. Also, it is a challenge to achieve consistency when eyeballing the dose if you are using different syringes. Can you order your syringes from Hocks and have the order sent to Canada? They have some very good syringes that have 1/2 unit markings and are considerably cheaper than the BDs. Even if you had to pay more postage, you might still save money.

Thanks Ella. No I looked and they didn't ship to Canada. I'm wishing Maverick will be OTJ by the time these 100 syringes are used up. I think if I hadn't messed up a while back he'd probably be close to it right now. We'll see what the next week brings with the new syringes and consistency. I'm moving up shot times by 15 minutes too. 10:00Am may be inconvenient.
 
good luck on the new time and the syringes too....i have no advise to give....hope it all works out in the end!

and i hope you are feeling better from your migraine too!
