Hi everyone *waves*

It's my 1st post in the PZI forum. We started out good today with an AMPS of 334. Which is fairly low for Jax in the AM.

Now dosing 1.1U approx (trying to find the magic dose like everyone)
+4/ 175 BG
+6/ 182 BG
+9/ 306 BG
PMPS 440.

Brighter side is that the neuropathy in hind legs looks to be getting better. He is no longer dragging one leg and actually starting to run on it during a quick, playful dash. Very thankful for that.

Hi Lisa,

I post on Health too so Hi again! This forum is much smaller than Health - usually busiest in the am and pm. Everyone here uses or has experience with your insulin. You've probably noticed that you don't get too many dose responses on Health. Most PZI users post here daily and don't spend much time on Health. If you ever have an emergency, post on Health too to get more responses.

Looking at your spreadsheet, it looks like 1.5 was too much but one may not be enough. Two choices. You could try 1.25 or you can give the one unit a few days to settle. Some kitties need a few days to get used to a dose; some don't.

Hi Sue,
I'm thinking to keep steady to see if this pans out. Going to see what +4, +6 look like on the PM cycle. Depending on the AMPS I may hold out on 1.1 for another cycle.
Thinking about those U100 syringes to give an exact dose to the tenths but somewhat hesitant with making the switch. Afraid that I may wake up early and 'forget' what needle I'm using... what dose to give... and give more than I should.

Thanks Teresa. I'm giving 2 pills in the AM and 1 in the eve and definitely noticing the difference. Looks like he's just starting to walk back on his toes in the back. Small progress but we'll take it.

It is tricky, Lisa. Most people put the conversion chart on the refrigerator door so they see it as they get the insulin out. It makes the small doses so much easier.

Hi Lisa, I don't have much to offer at this point, but I wanted to introduce myself. I am Kim and my cat is Kitty. We have been here for about 11 months and Kitty is very complex. I just wanted to welcome you to our group and tell you what a great job you are doing. We are a small group, but we love offering help and support to our fellow PZI kitties.

I look forward to following Jax and offering any advice and support that I can.

Once again, Welcome!

Kim

Hi Kim,

I am new here too. I have been here only about 6wks. My cat is Copper and we are having a time trying to find the right dose. My cat also has neuropathy very bad. He walks with his legs like a penguin and it looks terrible. We are on Zobaline 3x day. No improvement yet. Hope your kitty gets healed fast and that you find the right dose.

Just wanted to introduce myself.

Hi Kim and Lori,

Thank you for the welcome. I feel as if I already know both of you as I have Kitty and Copper's spreadsheets on my home page with Google Docs. LOL I follow your ups and downs, setbacks and accomplishments as well. It's nice to be a part of the group.

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to our group, I'm glad that the neuropothy is getting better, every little step they take back to normal is a huge success.

I'm with Sue on this, you could stay with this dose and see how it goes or go up to 1.25u.

I would think about switching to the U100 syringes and using the conversion chart, the best way to not make a mistake is once you make the switch get rid of all the U40 syringes. I have the chart hanging on my fridge and I check the dose conversion twice befor every injection.

We look forward to getting to know you and Jax.

Shhhhh!!! Don't mention Kitty's spreadsheet. I am in detention for not updating it properly!!! Kitty gets dosed TID (three times a day) and I got so far behind in posting her numbers......that, well....I don't know what! But, I need to update her SS or at least start with today's date.

I do test every time before giving insulin, but Kitty has finally settled in nicely and is pretty consistent in the 200s or low 300s at preshot and she gets about 4 units TID.

Kitty got very little duration of Prozinc and the TID has been wonderful for her.

It takes time to find a dose that works well, so don't get discouraged. The important thing early on is to test and record your data. It normally takes time for the kitties to settle into a dose. So, keep you spirits up......it gets easier!!!

Hi Lisa and JAx,
We spoke a few times in health
so glad that you finally came on over here!
WELCOME!
Always trust your gut..
that would be my advise for today
looking forward to getting to know you!
