Yikes!!! Champ had great numbers from Christmas evening all the way through yesterday...then this!! I'm sure it's just a bounce from finally seeing some green numbers the last two evenings. Since his bounces are usually very short-lived, I should see some lower numbers this cycle (anti jinx). Champ has been off his food for the last few days with me having to sprinkle freeze-dried chicken or some tuna on the top to get him to eat. I'm pretty sure it's because my parents were over quite often with their poodle who has NO idea how to be polite to a cat!! He kept getting in Champ's face and barking at which time Champ would stand there and look at Sonny (the poodle) like he was a fool (are you REALLY going to yell at me, in my house, when I outweigh you by three pounds AND I have really sharp claws?). I was proud of the fact Champ stood his ground without ever flinching or running away. He's such a brave kitters!! He did swat Sonny on the nose once and made him cry, but I figured he deserved it. I love that dog, but I thought poodles were supposed to be smart....Sonny NEVER learned anything about cats while he was here...nothing!! I had to say goodbye to my parents yesterday. They're going back to Texas early this morning. It's been so long since I last saw them and I know it will be a while until I see them again because I doubt they'll be traveling this far again. Mom is 75 and Dad will be 76 in a couple weeks and traveling just isn't fun for them anymore. They just get so tuckered out.

I have to get working, but I'll be back to visit condos late this morning/early this afternoon. I just priced insulin and was SHOCKED. I was able to afford a 5-pack of pens the last time I needed to buy insulin so it's been 10 months. One pen went from $47 to $71!!!! I bought the 5-pack 10 months ago for $260 and now it's $364!! Holy Moley!!! I need to work as much as possible so I can keep my cat in the style he's become accustomed!!

Come down from there, Champ, back to the lagoon! Lantus has gotten ridiculously expensive. We get ours at a hospital pharmacy and they will sell one at a time. They also honor the $25 coupon that was available online. Not sure if it is still available but we did stretch the truth about Zener's age. :lol: :lol: Safe travels to your parents. It's good they could make the trip. :-D Sonny was lucky to get away with a little scratch on the nose, after annoying a big cat name "Champ". :lol: :lol:

Yikes, Champ...bring it on down - the holidays are over, so no more holiday stress!!! I hope Champ's appy gets better, now that his house is back to being HIS house!

Yes, the price has really skyrocketed lately! Have you tried using the Lantus coupon? I'm able to get pens one at a time at my Target pharmacy, and with the coupon, they are $25 each (for up to 6 refills). It is a HUGE help! Not all pharmacies take the coupon, and not all Targets sell the pens one at a time, but several folks here have had good luck. When you fill out the application for the coupon, be sure to create a birthday that makes Champ over 18 years old - and, of course, leave out the fact that he is a cat! My pharmacist knows Trix is a cat, but at the same time, when I presented the coupon, I didn't mention/remind him of that...I just asked if the coupon would work...he tried it, and no problem, it went through.

Love to hear about Champ not backing down from a silly Poodle. I'm so happy that you were able to spend Christmas with your mom and dad, that's pretty special and I'm sure they were sad to have to leave you as well.

I hope Champ clears the bounce soon. Lantus prices are ridiculous. They just keep going up.

come on back down Champ! What a silly visitor! He really did deserve that swat on the nose. I'm glad you had a good visit w/ your parents though.

Try this site to get the best local prices, http://www.goodrx.com . It beats having to call all over town yourself. We found the best price at Costco when we started and I never rechecked. Now I can see that Walgreens has a much better price.

Amy and Anne - I actually have that Lantus coupon. I know of only one pharmacy here in Las Vegas that will sell a single pen, a K-mart, believe it or not. I always bought Champ's pens singly before the one time I actually had money to buy a full 5-pack. I'm going to go to that K-mart and see if they'll accept the coupon.

Ann - that is the COOLEST website ever!!! I checked it out and printed out the coupons/discounts on the lowest ones. If K-mart won't sell me a single pen, I'll have to go that route, though coming up with $300 right now will be impossible. I'm PRAYING K-mart will still sell me a single pen!!

I hope you can find a single pen :-D Come on down from there Champ, time to be green again ;-) I'm glad you got to visit with your parents over Christmas though, it's always nice to spend time with loved ones :razz:

As expected, he's sliding down quickly, which usually means he'll be headed up in the PM cycle. Maybe, just maybe, he can just get in a good place and stay there!!!

Now Champ, you heard your momma, find that pretty, blue green color and hang out for a while.. Scritches to the big boy.. has he fully recovered Patty and is he still sleeping with you?

Lauren - he seems completely back to normal!! He actually slept with me all night long last night. He was still curled up next to me when I got up at 5:30. I tried to turn over and shift the covers and couldn't figure out why they wouldn't move. I then realized I had a furry guest in bed with me!!! He even stayed in bed while I got dressed and brushed my teeth!! This might not last forever, but I'll take what I can get.

I hope you can find a good price for Lantus. It is so tricky these days getting insulin cheaply.
I'm very glad that Champ is feeling better. It's great that you had a nice Xmas with your parents. It's good for them to get out. Keep them moving!!
