Happy Boxing Day!

Molly' still seems to be surfing. She is quite grumpy and not wanting to be tested....she's retreated behind the Christmas tree after the most recent test. We are housebound today as it's raining buckets. Hope you all are safe warm and snug....seems to be a lot of storms going on today!

Lil Molly, no need to hide behind the Christmas tree...lots of treatses are in store for YOU! Great numbers! Hopefully she'll come up just a bit so you don't have to play so much stickey sticky pokey pokey.

Blah! Lots of storms all over the midwest and east coast! Stay safe and warm over there!

The Remarks in your ss say something about a possible fur shot. It looks like all got in :)
Congratulations on a dose reducie!

Re: 12/26 Molly AMPS118 +3 59 +4.75 49 +5.75 68

Hmmm thanks for the suggestion JD....
Does the 49 mean we need to go down again dose wise? Molly's been snacking all morning and I was surprised by that number....she's back up to 68 now at 5.75. Less grumpy too!

Re: 12/26 Molly AMPS118 +3 59 +4.75 49 +5.75 68 reduce?

Hi Molly - don't think we have said HI to you before. I'm not on every day like I used to be. Those are some beautiful numbers and it looks like you are surfing. Yep, that 49 means you get a .25 dose reduction. Those smaller doses are really hard to do but definitely an exciting time. It takes patience but it is so worth it when it takes them to the falls. :-D

Have a great day.

Congratulations on the reduction. Sounds like a nice day to relax and stay inside all cozy and recover from Christmas! We are supposed to get 15cm of snow...

Alanna --

The 49, in a newly diagnosed cat like Molly, is a dose reduction. Since Molly is on a small dose already, what would you think about shaving the dose? This would mean you'd be shooting a "skinny" 0.5u.This would be a dose between 0.25 and 0.5u. The idea is to keep Molly on insulin as long as possible in order to help her pancreas to be in healing numbers as long as possible.

I also suspect that Molly may get grumpy when her numbers are falling.

Re: 12/26 Molly AMPS118 +3 59 +4.75 49 +7 62 reduce?

Ok thanks!

We'll try a skinny 0.5U this evening. There's not a whole lot of room at the end of the syringe now, do they make smaller ones or is this the smallest it gets? I suspect you're right about the grumpy/going low association. She was pretty grumpy when it was too high too.

Thanks Dyana, Sienne, and Karen for the advice! I'll take the question mark off of the header now and we'll see what happens this evening1

Woo hoo congrats on the reducie that is awesome! Hope Molly doesn't give you too many problems about testing, poor kitties being constantly poked! Hope you have a good day!

Congratulations on the reducie. Molly had a very nice surf today. I use calipers to measure Furball's dose. It is easier for me to make sure I get a consistent dose that way and helps to measure those small doses. They sryinges don't get any smaller. Marje wrote a great condo on using calipers if you are interested http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=79851. People on the board recommend buying the calipers at Harbour Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/4-inch-digital-caliper-47256.html.

Thanks for the link Carla. I may need to get these....I had a devil of a time trying to figure out what a skinny 0.5U was vs a 0.25U....they both looked the same to me. I literally put on magnifying glasses already to be sure there's no air bubbles and I've got the plunger in the exact same spot as last time.
So tonight....we have a dose reduction and I'm pretty sure it's a 0.25U. I wanted to do a skinny 0.5 U as suggested but The width of the syringe plunger head is so wide I couldn't tell the difference between it and a 0.25! I just lined it up so the top line of the plunger was exactly halfway between the zero line and the 0.5U line and it took up the entire space between the two markings on the syringe.
I may order those calipers so I don't have to worry so much each time.
The photos were very helpful!
