Merry Christmas to everyone from the Lantus Land Lurker. I guess I am practicing Tight Regulation Lurking now

In a little over one year I have gone from being a crazy cat lady with 4 multi-issue cats to being the owner of one reasonably healthy cat. Pinkerton, who had spent the last ten years separated from the other cats due to his feline aggression, is now the happiest cat in the world. After Teddy's death two months ago, Pinky was allowed out of his bedroom and given full run of the house. He tears around and up and down stairs on his three arthritic legs like a kitten. At night he falls asleep exhausted, drooling and purring in my lap. He sleeps on my bed right next to my pillow. I like his attitude. He holds no grudges; he is simply happy for today.

Here he is in his Christmas costume:

In other news, I retired this month from my 34 year career as an Air Traffic Controller. It was a sudden decision spurred on by some health issues and a few other things which all came together and made me feel like it was time to go. I am not sure exactly what the future holds in store. I am signed up for 6 months of cardiac rehab ohmygod_smile I would like to get back to volunteering for my local animal shelter, and I have applied to go back to school to study to be a Veterinary Technician. (I hope to hear regarding acceptance in the next few months).

I miss my boys, Bear Man and Teddy, and my sweet Miss Emily. Here is the boys' traditional Christmas photo.

It has been a year full of endings for me. Next year, I am hoping for a year of new beginnings. My thoughts are with those who have suffered loss and adversity in the past year.

Sometimes it seems like life goes on without much change day to day. Then wam! Your year of endings held enough pain for years to come. I hope all of the excitement the new year holds for you makes you smile.

Merry Christmas!

Linda,

You have suffered your own adversities and losses in a short space of time, losing so many of your beloved fur babies, and my thoughts are with you often.

Yet in light of your own pain, you have found the strength and caring to reach out and help others. What you did for Tawny with LLEF these past couple of months while she was so sick is nothing short of a Christmas miracle, and she is home with me today because of the love, sharing, caring and generosity of people like you.

I, too, will be moving on next year. I have bailed out of THS (That Horrible Store) a year early. I have no idea what I am going to do. I feel like I am too old to go back to school (54-1/2), too uneducated for anybody to hire (high school only) and too weird for anybody to care. Your words:

are an inspiration to me.

The Christmas miracles of this Board just keep on giving and giving.

Merry Christmas, Linda. May the future hold exactly what you want it to, and may that bring you great joy.

Wow Linda! So many big changes both difficult and exciting.
You are very inspiring!

May the new year bring you good health, peace, and wonderful opportunities.

And that pinkerton...what you shared made me grin from ear to ear!

Hi Linda

Good to see a condo from ya.

You certainly have had a roller coaster ride this year. I was wondering how Pinkerton was doing. He looks so happy.

And congrats on the retirement. Your job must have been very, very stressful. I'm glad you are able to take some time for yourself and sign up for the cardio rehab. And oh my...going back to school to be a Vet Tech. I've read your posts and you seem to have a pretty high level of expertise in this area. You'll be great!! Wishing you the best of health and good studies for this next year. (I just know you will be accepted).

Your post brings tears to my eyes. I have grieved your losses along with you. You have no idea how happy I am for you to hear about how Pinkerton is responding. He has his bean all to himself and he has taught us all a lesson:
He holds no grudges; he is simply happy for today.

You have paid forward so much -- keeping people safe as they travel, caring for all of your special needs kitties in a way that I admire greatly, and taking on the work of LLEF. I hope that what you have given comes back to you tenfold.

Nice to see you Linda.
Lots changes for you and very difficult times. Makes me smile to read that Pinkerton is enjoying himself.

Congrats on the retirement! Good luck on your new career. Vet tech? Wow.
Thank you for all you advice and support.

Congratulations on your retirement. What an exciting job that must have been.
And Good Luck in your new career. I hope you help many vets, and kittys.
Big Hugs from us, Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

(((Linda))) A very, very Merry Christmas to you and Pinkerton. Who can resist that incredible photo of Bear Man and Teddy?

Congrats on your retirement and my thanks, as well, for keeping so many air crews and passengers safe all these years. I pray for your health and well being. It has been a year of change for you and you have borne it
so graciously even though I know your heart has broken many times over.

Thank you for all you do on LLEF....you are an awesome leader and because of your leadership, we've been able to help so many LL sugarbabies.

Sending you holiday hugs and love.

What a wonderful condo of remembrance for your special kitters who've moved on, the love of sweet Pinkterton, and the excitement of one door closing as another opens in your career. You have meant so much to the Lantus Land family and I know that your kindness and generosity to so many here will no doubt contribute to the many successes you will undoubtedly have in the new year.

The pictures all brought such a smile to my face...I hope you are having a most Merry Christmas!!
