12/24 Radar - nice greens all day ? Reduction question

This morning when I tested Radar at shot time, he surprised me with a 72 which is the lowest he's been at shot time in a very verylong time. I decided to give him a reduced dose of 8 units instead of the 9 and knew I'd need to test frequently.

I just got out the high carb food because he was 48 the last time I tested. We have started doing the Budesonide every other day as instructed by our vet and I knew he'd need less insulin as a result. Well today is the day that change kicked into our care plan. He's ravenous but the last test had him rising back up to 79. I'll continue testing every 15 min to try to keep him surfing.

We've seen a really nice string of greens :D:D:D for most of the day. Keep up the nice surfing action little guy!!

My question is how much should I reduce the dose by?? 0.25 doesn't seem like enough but I'm not sure about a whole unit reduction. I only gave him 8 units this morning which was a decision made without coffee... any thoughts???

I am curious on the budesonide every other day. Did the vet talk about reducing the dose instead? Might make it easier to figure out the insulin dose. Neko’s budesonide was compounded liquid, so it was easy to reduce the amount. Pills were incredibly tiny and hard to split.

The vet didn’t say anything about reducing the actual dose. She said to watch litter box closely and the numbers so I know when to reduce the insulin dose. Radars Budesonide is in pill capsule form and is compounded at 1 mg. Do you know if it has a taste??
