I may have jinxed this lovely blue run as there was some insulin smell and a bit of damp on Zener's fur post-shot this am. Could have been a left over drop from measuring, time will tell. @-) And, I forgot to give Zener the Bupe last night. I stopped at our vet yesterday afternoon and picked up some more Bupe as we were about out, just in case - over the holiday weekend, and then forgot to give it to him, plus the possible fur shot this morning. Good grief, it's a good thing Liz will be home this evening since I seem to be losing my mind! :?

The big guy is doing great this morning and seems to be feeling no pain. His appetite post-dental is improving and he is asking for food and eating better the last day or two as he has eaten since his FD diagnosis and transition to wet food. :-D About 10 minutes before the alarm was to go off (set for 5:30 am) there was a big black kitty whispering sweet squalls into my ear - hey you, yes you, the one who opens cans, will ya get up and feed me? I'm starving here. So, of course, like the well trained bean I am, I got up immediately!

Sending snowflakes and healing energy to all of our kitties and beans and LL family in need this morning.

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227 A Trak

We'll just hope the smell was a drop on the outside of the syringe and the dose is inside Zener! If he's feeling no pain, you may have done him a favor by forgetting the bupe. Even if you aren't losing your mind, I'm sure you and the kitties will be very glad to have Liz home.

Have a good one!

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227 A Trak

Morning! and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - you have your own version of my kitty choir. Go Zener - why is it always just before the alarm goes off...

Such great numbers Zener has been posting - all that blue yesteryear. :-D :-D Nice too that Zener appy seems to be back, and bring on the fuds. Good job Zener. here's hoping it wasn't a fur shot, hopefully just residue... been there too. paws crossed.

and welcome home Liz!

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227;+1 280 A Trak

Hey, big guy, I miss you and I'll be home before dark! You are doing great and so is your mama. I have my own version of adoptocat (Bo, my niece's cat) who is very sweet and wants me to kidnap her back to Flagstaff.  I better not, though. If I want to get invited back. And I don't think Zener and Tillie would be too keen on the idea. Thinking of ailing kitties and beans and hoping for speedy recoveries for all. Happy Friday LL!
Liz

Paws crossed this is the +1 food spike!

+1 280, 0.3oz 8%, negative ketones (and glucose!)

@Linda - thanks for the support. I didn't even think about the bupe having a negative effect on how Zener feels. His numbers started getting so lousy a few days post dental and adding the bupe back Monday made such a difference. And you are right, he is acting like he feels very good with the numbers to support that (provided I didn't miss the shot ;-) this morning).

@Michelle - ah yes, it was a kitty solo this am! Their sense of timing is uncanny isn't it? His numbers have looked so nice the past couple of days and perhaps that was only a one cycle bounce yesterday! We'll cross all of our paws it was just insulin residue! @-)

The big guy had a very short picnic outside, temp was 19F but strong winds had blown a dusting of snow on his pad and -9 wind chill, so he didn't stay long! He and Tillie are btb, smart kitties!

Our snow is past for this latest round and only left a dusting but we have a very cold northeast wind and our wind chills will be in the single digits today. Brrrrrr...

Nice start, but wrong way Zener. Turn around ASAP! And   on losing your mind. Good thing your helper is back soon! And Safe Travels Liz!!!

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227;+1 280 A Trak

Hey Zenner, don't go hiding on the upper floors. Liz will be home soon and you want to greet her in blue don't you?

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227;+1 280 A Trak

Hi guys .. let's bring it back around zener, you want to be blue for when Liz comes home, right?? Show her what a good boy you are! I can't believe you all are sitting in single digit temps with snow in AZ and in MI we are sitting here in the 40's and a green Christmas upon us  I won't be around this weekend, so Merry Christmas from us to you!

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227;+1 280 A Trak

Fingers and paws crossed you didn't give a fur shot. We're all a bit insane this time of year so don't feel like you're losing your mind on your own

Wishing you and yours an amazing holiday!

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227;+1 280;+2 262 A Trak

Hi Anne, sorry about the possible fur shot. I have done many in the past, so not to worry and it sounds like some did get in Zener. Oh wouldn't that be so cute if Liz came home with another kitty! Glad Zener's appy is good and he's seranading you as a wake up call. Have a nice day and safe trip home for Liz.

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227;+1 280;+2 262 A Trak

Thanks to all for your support and laughter, I don't feel nearly as bad about a possible fur shot. :-D
And HI to my Lizbean - we are so ready for you to come home!!! Zener is trying to be all blue for you, and I'm afraid I may have sabotaged his plan.
Today

AMPS 227, 8th cycle @1.75u, 1.65oz 8%
+1 280, 0.3oz 8%, negative ketones (and glucose!)
+2 262, 0.9oz 8%

@Jaq - Zener has been spiking at +1 a few times lately, probably because he is finally eating enough food!

@Ann & Tess - if Zener hides on the upper floors it's because I messed his shot up this AM. Time will tell!

@Devon - it is crazy weather isn't it? Zener will do his best to be blue for his mama bean. Happy hollydaze to you! :-D

@Celi -   Liz just might put one of those cats in her car...by accident of course! ;-)

@Iorwen - thanks for crossing your fingers and paws, we may need it. Happy hollydaze to you and yours! :-D

@Ann & Maggie - ah, yes, he is on the way down a little @+2 so maybe some of the juice found it's mark. The serenade was lovely, so wonderful to see him feeling better and asking for food!

Since nothing looks alarming with Zener's numbers, I'm off to a tai chi class. Will be home in time for a +4.

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227;+1 280;+2 262;+4 308 A Trak

Well, the verdict appears in, Zener is going the wrong way - looks like I missed the shot.

Today
12/23/11 Zener Alpha Trak
AMPS 227, 8th cycle @1.75u, 1.65oz 8%
+1 280, 0.3oz 8%, negative ketones (and glucose!)
+2 262, 0.9oz 8%
+2.5 0.6oz 8%
+4 308, 1/4PP with pepcid, 0.1mL Bupe

Wow, what a difference a couple of hours makes (and a lack of juice)! The big guy feels a little punk and his appetite has disappeared so I suspect missing his shot and the increasing high numbers. I gave him a little Bupe (0.1mL) just in case he might still be having some discomfort and I didn't give any of that last night. Darn, we had such a lovely run of numbers and he was feeling SO good.

@Celi - I drink that too! The kitties do tai chi and yoga all the time. Their favorite tai chi move is "cat grasps bird's tail".

@Liz - I do qigong too! We do both in class now, since we are "advanced".

I'm officially ready for this cycle to end and give it another go! It will all be better tonight when both beans are home!

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227;+1 280;+2 262;+4 308 A Trak

The good news is they come back down from a missed shot.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet Liz while she was here. I got pretty busy this week and needed to give my attention to my dear friend.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Re: 12/23 Zener AMPS 227;+1 280;+2 262;+4 308 A Trak

At least you know what happened. He will be back at it in no time. That's the good thing. There is always the next cycle.

Yay for Liz getting home. Bet you all sleep well tonight!

Nothing like a fur shot to stop the beautiful blues. grr_red And now we have a new cycle! :-D

+8 3/4PP with 3mg Zobaline
+10 FDCK
PMPS 436, 1st cycle (or should it be 1st) @1.75u, 1.3oz 8%

I took advantage of the miss this morning to do a bunch of running around, since no worries about him dropping. The numbers seem to validate what I thought - missed the shot this morning. So, when this happens, do you start the numbering of the cycles at that dose over again? I need to find that sticky or condo about that.

@Rosalie - thanks for reminding me - he will come down again! Happy hollydaze to you too!

@Melissa & Mr T - yep, we know what happened and hoorah for the next cycle! I am looking forward to not setting my alarm in the morning!

@Celi - good thing I did not have a mouthful of tea when I saw the feline tai chi player! The laptop screen would have taken a full hit! Gosh, did I need that after fretting about his lousy numbers after such lovely ones! I do believe the move Quincy is practicing is "repulse monkey".

Liz is home, safe and sound and the kitties are verrrrry happy! And so is this bean!
We hope everyone has a wonderful Friday evening!

Re: 12/23 Zener PMPS 436;+1 365 A Trak

What a difference a little juice makes!
PMPS 436, 1st cycle (or should it be 1st) @1.75u, 1.3oz 8%
+1 365
+2 1.5oz 8%

I was about to test Zener at +2 and Liz hears "nom, nom, nom". Our Zener, who has not been a self-feeder since diagnosis, was chowing down on the food I put down at +1 but he didn't eat. I had forgotten to pick it up. Then he demanded to go outside and have more on his picnic table. So, test deferred due to food!

We'll get a +3, if we can get him to quit eating! What a great problem to have!

Sienne and Gabby said:
It may not have been a fur shot. It could be a bounce!

I wondered about that too Sienne, as he had some low blues the night before. But when I gave him his shot this morning something about it was awkward and when I petted him post-shot there was quite a bit of liquid on his fur, more than just a drop, so that was why I thought it might have been a fur shot. I suppose it doesn't really matter, we are glad to see him coming back down! :-D

And if it is a bounce and he is already coming down, he sure is changing his bounce clearing patterns! The best thing is his appetite has been so much better and he is even eating some 5% carb food, not all the time, but that sure is progress!

Re: 12/23 Zener PMPS 436;+1 365;+3 305 A Trak

Yay, for Zener eating on his own! That's a better sign of feeling well than those darn, color-coded numbers. I'm glad to hear you're keeping up with the bupe -- I'm a big believer in pain management, and sometimes one has to assume post-procedure pain is present even when there aren't any outward signs.

I hope you're all having a great evening.

Re: 12/23 Zener PMPS 436;+1 365;+3 305 A Trak

@Rhanda - oh my gosh, it is such a huge relief for him to want to eat! And it looks like the once a day bupe is doing it for now. We have more bupe, if we need it over the holiday weekend. We go back to the vet for a recheck on Tues.

Yellow is better than r*d!
PMPS 436, 1st cycle (or should it be 1st) @1.75u, 1.3oz 8%

+5 287, 0.1mL Bupe, left out 0.7oz 8%
