Mocha's Last Condo

Good morning LL! ~O) We are still working on chipping ourselves out after that major ice storm. Occasionally the power is flickering, lots of trees down and power lines covered in ice.

Mocha seems well today, all 5 P's in place today. He seems a little extra thirsty though. He was playing in the yellows last night, but may have dropped lower between his +3 and his +9. I had intended to get his nadir, and slept through my alarm.

Sending healing vines to those in need, and I hope everyone is safe and whole after the ice storm.

The weather is crazy lately...be safe in all that ice! Mocha, let's bring it on down a tad, OK? Glad to hear he is feeling well. Have a great day, guys!

The news was saying tons of peeps are without power due to the ice storm and that it would be like that until after Christmas! Of course, we have been checking now to see who logs on today and sending strong safe vines to all of you!

On a side note, I think Mocha's thyroid medicine is sending his BG's up. I just a refill of his flavored liquid methimazole, and it was a different color than our first bottle. So, being the good mom that I am ( :? :roll: ) I dappled some on my finger and tasted it, thinking maybe they got the flavoring wrong (they mix it themselves in house). Well, it tasted nothing like chicken (tasted quite awful actually, poor kitty), and tasted VERY sugary. I tried the same thing with what was left of the first bottle and it tastes more sugary than this new one. I know my methods are a little weird, but I am kind of glad that I did it. It could explain his really high numbers around shot time. He gets about ....okay he was *supposed* to be getting .6 mL twice a day at 5:00AM ( or his +9); HOWEVER he has actually been getting .5 mL in the AM and .75 mL in the PM. :evil: Helpful family, but misguided apparently. We switched to liquid so that we could even his dose out in the AM and PM. le sigh :YMSIGH: Maybe his BG's will get better now that we've got that straightened out.
 
Oh dear on the medicine :sad: I hope it didn't taste too bad :!: :lol: That storm sounds brutal. I hope everything is getting cleared for you and back to normal soon! Have a nice night with Mocha :-D
 
I'm so glad I found this.

My Bruno (just diagnosed with diabetes a week ago) takes two liquid medicines every day, Vitamin K (for coagulopathy, he's hemopheliac) and Budesonide (for lymphoma).

I did taste the medicines once (yes I'm weird) and they were very sweet. Supposed to be tuna flavored and tasted nothing like tuna. Compounded from Golden Gate Pharmacy in San Rafael, CA.

Does anyone know what's really in these flavored liquid medicines?

When compounding pharmacies flavor meds, they put sweeteners in them. I asked our pharmacy to not put any sweetener in her meds; they said ok that since she was diabetic, they'd just put maltodextrin but that is also a sweetener so you have to even tell them no maltodextrin or anything similar.
