Very strange not fixing a syringe this morning. Even Smudge seemed to want to go straight to his bowl instead of to his ear poke. Does he know?

He looks hotI agree, they know everything!!
He looks grumpy, but he is purring and giving me a morning snuggle, which is new! I usually only get an early evening snuggle.

Just to set your expectation, almost all cats on trials like to mess with their caregivers and give a couple blues preshots. Then take it down 3 hours later. No biggie if he does.It is nerve wracking wondering if he will go up without insulin.
I figured it's coming.Just to set your expectation, almost all cats on trials like to mess with their caregivers and give a couple blues preshots. Then take it down 3 hours later. No biggie if he does.
Happy Day 1!
Aaaand I'm crying. A good cry. "...the world puts in our path what we need, exactly when we need it." There couldn't be truer words. I lost my gray and white stray-turned-adoptee 7 months before Smudge showed up wounded. Their personalities are so similar, it's eery sometimes. There's a reason for everything.Just think back 6 months … no insulin injections, no ear pokes, no clue what SLGS and TR stand for, no nerve-rattling “green” pre-shot numbers, no sweet gray and white homeless street cat toying with death, no gray and white formerly homeless street cat zooming past the Christmas tree with arched tail and a sparkle in his eyes…
When I look at my crew of ragtag former strays, I mull over the little choices in life that have huge ramifications. What if I’d have turned left instead of right … I’d have never had that injured cat roll down the hillside in front of my car. Or what if I hadn’t answered the phone the night the pizza shop owner called for help when kids had tried to set a cat on fire in the dumpster out back of her store? I like to think that the world puts in our path what we need, exactly when we need it. You and Smudge are a heckuva team and you’re both better for it. Kudos for stepping up…

I’m crying yet again. How beautifully said, Alli. Smudge was sent to you for a reason. To heal your heart and for you to heal him. Just wow. And you have so beautifully done just that.Aaaand I'm crying. A good cry. "...the world puts in our path what we need, exactly when we need it." There couldn't be truer words. Here's a photo comparison of the day I took him from my mom's to be hospitalized with DKA to now. What a difference.
