Bama is staying solidly in the mid to high 100s. I am content for him to be there, at least, until after Friday when hordes of relatives descend upon our house for food and festivities. So, I won't be adjusting his insulin until afterward. He should not be disturbed too much as his space is upstairs and the crowds will remain downstairs. I say crowds. The total number of extra people will be about 10, mostly adults, but also one teenager and two aged 9 and 12. Could get a little loud.

Bama has eaten well overnight and at pre-shot meal, getting up from his bed for tests and snacks, and leaving a couple nice sized turds in the box. He continues to request water to be syringed into his mouth. I am happy to comply. I figure by doing this every few hours, he is getting an extra 60 to 100 mls. per day.

His vet has agreed to prescribe injectable Ondansetron which can be administered sub-q but possibly not in the sub-q line. I am to pick up the script today. If anyone has tips or advice on injectables, please let me know or tag someone who may have experience. As always, thanks for your help.

No experience with injectable Ondansetron. Only what I've read here:
http://felinecrf.org/appetite_loss_nausea_vomiting.htm#ondansetron_formulations

Are you a member of Tanya's CKD group?

Going to tag @Katherine&Ruby and @tiffmaxee in case they have any experience with it.

I’ve read injectable ondansetron just like cerenia can sting. What you can do is inject it into the fluid bubble if giving sub-q fluids. I tried cerenia and couldn’t bring myself to give it because it sting my two so much. I never tried doing it in fluids.

Snag in the Ondansetron saga. Per Walgreens, they don't have the injectable Ondansetron. "It is on back order," they say. Didn't act as though they were interested in getting it for me. Thinking I'll call a few other pharmacies, including the compounding pharmacy who gave me the transdermal. Bama seems to be doing fine without it. I say that now and he'll probably puke overnight. It's been three days.

I have personally not had to use the injectable form. I used the orally dissolving tablets (usually popped them in with a pill popper and never tried to dissolve them in my cat’s mouth.
But I have read that it stings when given subcutaneously so fluid should be running before adding it into the y-port and then after a little bit too.
Sorry you are having trouble getting it! I’m happy with Bama’s eating!
