So. Relaxed.
Papaya and I are at my parents' place this morning. We were supposed to be driving out here today, but I always get home from work before holidays like this and think hmmm, should I spend the evening doing laundry and packing so I can drive out and sleep in Mom's laundry room, or should I just GO? And as much as I hate driving in the out-in-the-country darkness when it's -30, the "GO" always wins. It was an uneventful car trip - just as we were leaving the city Papaya sat up, looked at me, and summed it all up with one very loud MEOW! then turned around and curled up under her blanket. I didn't hear another peep out of her until about 10 minutes away from our destination, when she really started having a conversation. She was sitting looking out the window at the amazingly bright full moon so perhaps she was talking about the scenery!
When I brought Papaya in the door, she shot into the room where we always sleep and hid under the futon. I brought in a few more things, then looked under the futon . . . no Papaya. Boy does she move quickly these days  I knew where to look for her, though - under the armchair in the living room. I just let her be to settle down a bit, but a few minutes later as I was talking to Mom in the kitchen I saw Dad down on his hands and knees holding up the flap around the bottom of the armchair talking to Papaya, in the gentle friendly voice he uses with little children. She does really like Dad and soon she came out to sit on the carpet next to him, then to check out the rest of the room and work on convincing Mom to get a blanket so Papaya could sit up on the couch with the people. So basically she is feeling quite at home!
After car trip and being in a different although familiar place, I wasn't expecting too much of her numbers this morning but she is having a beautiful cycle. And I am enjoying sitting around in PJs
I may not be online too much for a few days since I'll be relaxing as hard as I can here . . . but if I don't reappear after the 30th it's because I suffered death-by-lumpy-mattress-and-frame-trying-to-fold-up-on-me-futon
