Congratulation on going OTJ. You want his bg to fall within the range of bg for a cat thatβs not diabetic. Iβd look for trends. An oddball bg a bit higher would not concern me. Cats often come out of remission due to infection or dental issues. Iβve only had one diabetic cat but all my cats have been stressed at the vet and the bg can go up a little. With Max in retrospect I wonder if it was not just stress when his was slightly over the range but hard to say because most visits were when he was not acting right and it usually meant a pancreatitis flare.
I think that exact same thing with my first girl, Riley. I've learned to test her either before or after the car ride. My girl gets so stressed, she has to ride in a large dog kennel, with a litter box, blanket, an infant bib (to help me with her excessive drooling), AND I have to ride in the back of the truck (Armada thank goodness) so as to deal with his picking up the vomit, pee, and diarrhea so she doesn't keep stepping in it. Which happens if someone isn't in the back with her. When she gets there, her numbers are over 300.
There's a small part of me that wonders if she ever had diabetes to begin with, as when diagnosed she was 330 BG. But when I asked my vet she got real upset fast with me. Thinking I was accusing her of misdiagnosing her. Which, I mean I guess I was? But I tried to put it as politely and scientifically as I could. She insisted she also tests urine before giving that diagnosis. But I've read since,
that can come out false positive too?
Who's to know. I'm not taking her off the low phos/high meat protein/super low carb food she's on to find out.

But that's good to point out, since she wants to see Nico in the office for a test to see for herself.

I almost asked if she was paying for it. But she actually does give me many free office visits. Probably 70-80% of the time with free xrays and ultrasounds sometimes. So I shut up.

But that being said, I'm going to test Nico before I bring him in on both the human and pet meter, as she's very pro AT3. And she her the results, as it will be higher there. Thanks!
