FS Libre/PM+11 331/AMPS 300/3.75U/+2 274/+7 215/+10 282/PMPS 364

The FS Libre might make me crazy. I know it lags behind her BG, timewise, but her reading was "HI" (over 400, no man's land, where it doesn't read) from PM+1 to PM+3 last night. Granted, her BG was higher (237 to 285 over 3 hours), no idea why, but her numbers seem to be going up along with her doses. She gets a day of good numbers, after her increase, then they go up again. I know we were dealing with some inappetence, from whatever, but that seems to have resolved itself. I am no longer giving ondansetron, or Mirataz. Then, I wonder if she is cleaning up her plate because she is high and peeing out glucose, along with the high numbers. Do I need to get glucose test strips for my Millie kit, along with ketone sticks? So far, the FS Libre certainly feeds my testing OCD but the numbers don't make a lot of sense, as they are all over the place. UGH...squared.

It does look like that particular Libre is way off, looking at your spreadsheet and the comparison of numbers between that and the glucometer. Jackson’s Libre numbers never exactly match a simultaneous BG test, but they’re not that far off - 10 to 20 points typically (the spread gets wider as the numbers go lower below 100 or so). How long have you been using the Libre? Is this a new problem with this sensor, or an ongoing one?

First sensor, just started. I'm so glad to know that they run closer than that. My vet said that they track fairly closely. Even given the time lag, the closest thus has been has been 50 points. I think I have 7 days left. At least it gives me a view of movement in the numbers. Thanks for commenting and letting me know. I'll just ride this one out and see if I can get it replaced, when I get a new one.

Hope it works out for you! And yes, seeing the patterns on the graphs has really helped teach me a lot about what my unique kitty might do. (Usually. He tends to get into a pattern for a few days and then change it up with a drop or bounce, lol.)

As for Millie’s numbers seeming to rise with her doses (I just re-read your original post) I totally TOTALLY get that!!! I was in tears and ready to drop back down in dose back at the beginning of November, just in hopes that Jack would at least stabilize in the 300’s or something… I actually did drop from 2 units back to 0.5 for a few doses… then I joined this group. They convinced me through my tears to go back up, because he might have been on the verge of a breakthrough dose. Apparently going higher like that is often a precursor to breakthrough. :banghead: So I had to start the whole climb back up again. But, lo and behold, when he finally got back up to 2, and then 2.25 units (almost three weeks later, because I had to step it all back up again) I finally saw some greens. In fact, he then started decreasing doses fairly rapidly, in an equally-frustrating cycle of high bounces interspersed with sudden drops. Once we got back down to 1.25, he started staying high again, so he stair-stepped back up to 1.75 units… now he’s heading back down again (on 1.0 unit currently, hoping it holds, don’t know yet because he’s still on the last bounce).

So, all that to say - don’t give up! I am so so SO familiar with those high numbers!! And the stress! But it is working for Jackson, in an up-and-down way, and it should work for Millie too.

Also, FYI and wondering, are you using the app to scan the Libre? I have the handheld reader and it actually reads up to 500, not 400, which is really useful when kitty decides to hang out in the 400s a lot. At least you know how high they’re going… I learned how to panic less at 410 than 498. Heh.

On the flip side, the graph on the unit’s screen doesn’t go past 350. And I have to download data to my computer to see it for posterity. The app would be much better for that. So… trade offs… Once she comes back down out of the 400s - it will happen eventually!! - the app will probably win overall.

(I just had to get started and then stay with the reader for now so that multiple people can check him through the day while I’m at work. Once he’s actually stabilized to where I dare go 8 or more hours between checks, I would love to upgrade him to the Libre 3, which is app-only. He’s not even near there yet though…)

She's only gone over 400 on one day...close but not over. I would love to do the Libre 3, if it just comes down in price. It updates ever 2 minutes. While the app only logs numbers if I pass the phone over it, the numbers evidently store because there is a lot of movement on the graph, when I do scan it. I figure everyone on here knows more than I do, so I just increase when they tell me to. As someone so aptly put it, we're not dealing with medication, we're dealing with a hormone. Which means it will never make perfect sense. Luckily, Millie is sequestered in her own room so I can monitor/control everything very closely and she is a dream sugar kitty. She will let me do anything to her for 3 pieces of Young Again Mature Zero kibble. She is now wearing a cute little red/white striped T-shirt to keep her from taking her sensor off.

I believe the Libre stores up to 8 hours worth of data on the chip itself. So you do need to make sure you scan it at least that often, lest you lose a chunk of time on the graph. (I have done it, though rarely. Lol.)

Aww Millie sounds so cute. Jack on the other hand would hate a shirt lol. I keep threatening him with this harness thing I bought if he starts messing with his sensor again, though… So far he’s left it alone for a whole week. Cats… gotta love ‘em. Though they can drive us nuts too.:cat:
