^^ probably the best day since we started insulin and it even included a trip to the vets!

AMPS 336

Sure would like him to drop back down early this morning. Fingers crossed.

Then again, today would be a really good nap day too.

So I guess I am good either way!

doesn't bounce again
Is there anything that can be done to prevent/minimise bouncing? I don't think so but was thinking about it.

Lately his bounces have been fairly short lived. (Antijinx). But not this high either.

When I shot this morning I think I shot too far back. I shoot on the side (behind shoulder blade). Gizmo kinda turned and yelped and acted like it hurt. Poor baby. It could have been that he is still in a mood from vet visit and all the testing yesterday (he was definitely done with being messed with by bedtime last night).

If I did shoot a little into the muscle will the insulin still work? I am using a shorter needle and do have to get through all his hair so if it was into the muscle - it wasn't very deep into it.

There are times when you can feed to slow the drop and it may help keep the bounce from being as high, but usually if the cat is going to bounce, they are going to bounce. It's just part of the process. I'm not sure about the shooting into the muscle thing.

When Gizmo was young he was always upside down. Always. One of his names is still upside down kitty. After his first pancreatitis attack he quit doing it almost completely.

This morning:D just after we had a couch love fest.

Good morning Lizzie and sorry about the bounce. The good news is that they are getting shorter and Gizmo saw a number lower than he has been in for a while so not too surprising that he bounced higher.

As far as shooting into the muscle, yes, it hurts them, I have accidentally done it but the insulin should still work. One of the moderators that used to be here Carl, was instructed to give injections into the muscle on his cat , Bob, who was using ProZinc. Not sure why he was told to do it that way.

@Bobbie And Bubba
Thanks. Even when not shot into muscle the area of the shot bothers him. He will lick and lick it (but not every time). I don't know why it bothers him sometimes but when it does, the side where the shot was is wet from him linking there. He only does it between shot time and +2 (if that long), so it is relative short lived.

Agree there's not much you can do about those bounces except take a nice nap. Lantus bothered Doodles after a while and when we started going up and up in dose it really bothered him. It can sting but usually at a much higher dose then what Gizmo is on. I swore Doodles had an allergic or irritated reaction to it even on the 1 unit dose. He use to lurch, do excessive licking and would have skin twitches. Hopefully Gizmo will settle down and you might even try shooting in a different area such as the flank.

I love that picture! Give him extra :kiss:

See, I still think they must be brothers or maybe 1st cousins :D.

Gizmo has always been sensitive to things. Internal shots (the few he got) and external (topical). I was shooting in the scruff of neck but he got to where he would tense/tighten up his muscles so I switched to the side. He can't tighten that area up and I have a bigger target. :D It isn't every shot so will just watch that it doesn't get worse.

Another oddity he has is an obsession with all things plastic. He will lick or chew on all things plastic. Bags from grocery stores, the plastic on bottle water (shrink wrap on bulk) and the plastic that holds 6 packs of soda together. We have to remove all packaging :banghead:. He doesn't eat it, only chews or licks it.

It was spotty for Doodles too. It only got worse toward the very end when we were up over 5u. He also became very irritable but looking back it may have been due to the undetected heart issue and him not feeling good.

That picture is just too stinking cute!!!:cat:

Gizmo, please don't stay on the trampoline for long.

I hope you get a nice nap in today Lizzie.

Furball loves to lick on plastic or rub her paws on it. It's so funny. I gave her a plastic try to sleep in and she loves to rub her paws on it.

Well, alrighty then. Let's just skip the yellow and go straight to the blues! Really, really didn't expect that.

+4 186

Is that a record for the shortest bounce ever? LOL
just joking.

Surf safely there Gizmo! LOVE the photo!! Sooooo cute!
My civvie Jett too can sniff out the smallest bit of plastic from a mile away...what's up with that???!!??
Thank you for all of your help recently :bighug:
